Our final BAFTA slideshow of the day is brightly colored things, beginning with Florence Pugh, who loves both color and volume — both of which would be welcomed on the Academy Awards red carpet when she treads it as a nominee next weekend. YES, NEXT WEEKEND. The early Oscars make this feel even more like a gauntlet, and yet do nothing to make the outcome feel any less predictable, nor to make them feel any less like a perfunctory button to more exciting stuff that happened already. Honestly, I think the Oscars have an awards season problem, among its many others, and the only solution would be to steal the Golden Globes date and get itself first in line.
