The Rip is a probably fairly generic Netflix cop thriller about stolen cash and corruption and whatnot, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and Teyana Taylor. (I found an enthusiastic post about this on Reddit from two weeks ago that feels extremely, amusingly fake.) The thing about it that interests me the most is that Damon and Affleck negotiated a back-end bonus for the entire crew if it performs well, so for that reason, I hope it does. Stream away!
Teyana, naturally, gave this premiere everything, including her mobility. This Ashi Studio frock is sculptural, it’s sort of sheer but not quite, it’s arresting, it’s also objectively insane, it’s hopefully protecting her from Flu A, and it’s going to stick in everyone’s minds. She looks like a Valentine’s Day bandit. Unfortunately, she could not walk in it — there is video circulating of her taking the babiest of baby steps, with someone guiding her all the while. I hope she brought sweatpants, because that is unsustainable and absurd, like, don’t make skirts people can’t actually USE, my God. But fashion-wise, just on pure aesthetics, it’s amazing what she can carry; I would absolutely be rolling my eyes if this were on Kim Kardashian, or about 95 percent of other people — I would, however, love to see them try, can you EVEN IMAGINE if Julia Roberts or Viola showed up in this, we would scream with shocked glee — but Teyana just makes it seem funny and artsy. She’s trained us well, I guess.
I do enjoy that it also makes her look like she’s mildly allergic to Matt and Ben. Although both of them seem like they really layered on the bronzer makeup for this, so maybe she’s just protecting herself from fumes.
