My niece, Intern C (now ten and a half), is visiting for Christmas and reported for duty just as I was downloading this photograph. She recoiled. “That is disturbing!” she yelped. “I am disturbed.” She’s not wrong. I had a hybrid reaction to this — I laughed, and also shuddered. At first I thought they might be actual hand-shaped pockets, but they seem to be sewn shut, making them merely an adornment and an eerily hilarious visual trick. But Intern C is not wrong; it does ALSO look like someone is sneaking up behind her and playing Grab the Groin. So it’s good news that Kids Today are skeeved out by that. And I guess bad news for Anitta if this is what she thinks it means to wear gloves.
