Joker: Folie a Deux, a sequel I don’t think we needed to a movie I also don’t think we needed, debuted in Cannes to mixed reviews. But it got the absolute most out of its greatest promotional asset: Lady Gaga, as usual, came to play.
She changed to watch the actual film, and if you click to see, you’ll read that apparently the movie got an 11-minute standing ovation — these are so arbitrary and obsequious; I don’t trust them — and Joaquin Phoenix tapped out at minute nine. Relatable.
