While the Venice Film Festival kicks off in Italy this week, the Angoulême French-Speaking Film Festival — what a mouthful!! Just call it the AF-SFF, obviously — also began this week in Angoulême, France, where noted French-speaker and former long-time resident of France Kristin Scott Thomas is on the jury. I always think of her dressing like her Slow Horses character — chic, understated, rich, kinda mean — and so both of these looks are rather a shock to the system in their floaty peppiness. To me, they combine to say, “you say ‘jury member,’ I say, ‘FREE VACATION TO ANGOULÊME!'” This woman has a bottle of white chilling on the terrace and a paperback to read and woe betide those who interrupt either for something like work! To be clear: I support this entire endeavour wholeheartedly. Bring her a cheese plate immediately.
