This morning, Wills and Kate and Harry (and Charles and Camilla and a bunch of other people, like Theresa May and London mayor Sadiq Khan) attended a service at St Paul’s honoring the victims and heroes of this summer’s tragic Grenfell Tower Fire:
This morning, TRH joined members of the community from all faiths for the Grenfell Tower National Memorial Service.
The service at St Paul’s Cathedral remembered those who died, and gave thanks for the people who helped those affected by the tragedy. pic.twitter.com/pfbOfURIgk— Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) December 14, 2017
There is excellent coverage of this event at the HRH Duchess Kate blog, which I cannot recommend enough.
People also has good coverage of the service — Adele also attended, and actually so did Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford. (Hello! referenced a great story wherein apparently shortly after the fire, Adele “surprised firefighters when she turned up to thank them for their work, by banging on the window and offering cake.” Adele, we do not deserve you.) Everyone, thank goodness, looked totally appropriate. (This is hardly the most important thing in the world, especially at an event such as this one, but this hat of Kate’s is growing on me. Even at serious moments, sometimes a woman’s thoughts flit briefly past the frivolous.)
