NASA stopped doing space missions with actual people aboard when the boys were too young to have appreciated the drama and thrill of a real launch, so it was really fun to see them get so excited about the SpaceX launch. (They were very disappointed it was cancelled, then relieved it was rescheduled, then concerned it might conflict with some infernal Fortnite event. FORNITE CAN WAIT, LIAM. THIS IS SPACE.) Even though the launch didn’t happen, we DID get the fancy new outfits, which made me wonder what archival astronaut photos our services had kicking around — and the answer is, “Some.” Let’s play.
Please note: I consciously left out Challenger and Columbia, because, particularly with Challenger, it felt like… a lot of people have a LOT of specific memories of those tragedies, and we don’t need to go to a How About Those Pants place with those.
