After countless neon set photos and a LOT of bolstering interviews in the press — like Simu Liu saying his agent convinced him to do it by swearing, on his own career, that it’s the best script he’s ever read — we finally have our first look at Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. It’s less of a trailer than a teaser; there’s no plot, and nothing that’s clearly from the actual movie until about the one-minute mark. It’s possible the rest of it is, too, but equally likely that the studio just invested a decent amount of money in a high-concept promo that would get people talking. Here you go:

Its sense of humor, and the disco music switch at about the one-minute mark (which is when we see what appears to be actual footage), gives the project a nice amount of swagger. As does the fact that Margot looks perfect, Ryan Gosling looks entertaining, and… is Simu Liu dancing? I was always probably in, out of sheer curiosity, but this probably would have tempted me if I hadn’t been. What do you make of it?
