First of all, this premiere actually did what it was meant to to, and it alerted me to the existence of this show: A Netflix miniseries thriller starring these people, who are playing characters with insane names. (It is produced by Jodie Foster and….Conan O’Brien? I would never have put those people together unless it was for a commercial full of pale celebrities advocating for sunscreen.) Having said that, so far all the reviews I’ve seen have been good, and goodness knows, “Matthew Rhys plays a maybe murderer while Claire Danes is sad” sounds like it will scratch a very pleasant itch.
Second, everyone here looks absolutely, totally, completely good. No one has tried anything. (I’d argue at least three of these people have returned to a vibe they’ve previously had great success with.) There is nothing gimmicky happening, no one is working a bit. Everyone just looks great! IT’S RELAXING.
