Welcome to one of my favorite posts of the year! Last week, we tackled Advent calendars — I love — and this week, insane and/or whimsical Christmas tree ornaments are up! I so admire people who have, like, an all blue-and-white tree, or one that’s all gold, or something similarly chic and restrained. This post is for people more like myself, whose tree is mildly deranged, and who never saw a wacky kitschy food ornament she didn’t want. We are in a golden age of silly ornaments, truly — anything you want, you can get in ornament form. (My husband and I bought a bathtub ornament when we were in Wisconsin one summer.) One Christmas, I got everyone in my family an ornament of a foodstuff they like — tacos, a wedge of cheese, a stick of butter, deviled eggs. Heather got a boxed wine. I am currently seriously tempted by this felt pickle playing pickleball. It’s so cute! These are all deeply unserious….but if not now, when?
