Emma Stone shaved her head sometime in the vicinity of last summer, for a Yorgos Lanthimos movie (of course), and what we’re seeing here is the result of the grow-out. It suits her surprisingly well. Remember when Anne Hathaway chopped off her hair to play Fantine? That grow-out ALSO worked. SHOULD WE ALL CUT OFF OUR HAIR???
Anyway, Emma may have been present as last year’s winner in the comedy category for Poor Things, but she may ALSO have been there in her capacity as the producer of A Real Pain, which had a nomination for screenplay (Jesse Eisenberg) and a win for supporting actor (Kieran Culkin). Emma is the one who convinced Kieran to stay in the movie, after all, so it’s her win too. And she kicks off our post of the reds and purples and everything in between — maroon and its pals — from the night, which is a very robust buffet.
