It’s thin on the ground right now, so we’re turning the clock back to July 24, 1984, which saw the premiere of Grandview, U.S.A., and a lot of ’80s hair. Plus, randomly, Sting in concert, a Chanel show, and someone’s birthday. I was not familiar with Grandview, U.S.A., but the Wikipedia page makes it sound quite… boring, even though it also involves drag racing and a fire and characters with names like SLAM and CANDY and COWBOY. There’s also a subplot about C. Thomas Howell wanting to study oceanography but his father doesn’t approve. If you’ve seen it, let me know. I am not sure why Cher is there; maybe she is just really invested in the future oceanographers of America., real or imagined.
