Charlize Theron does an annual event for her Africa Outreach Project at Universal, and this year, I assume someone got the riot act read to them because it took place on the same night as the gala opening of George Lucas’s new museum. And we already know how many famous faces showed up there. Still, Charlize, lonely though she may have been with a decidedly non-A-list roster of guests, looks great — in that way where it’s primarily because she’s Charlize Theron. Her looks typically fantastic — it grieves me that my own bob does not look as good as hers always does — and her legs are doing a lot of good work here, too. The dress itself was shown by Dior as longer, and asymmetrical (and over pants, but we don’t need those). I think it would have been more interesting, and felt more complete, if she hadn’t had it made to be shorter and straighter. But really, it’s the tragic Dior slides that are killing the vibe. Imagine this with punky boots, or great brogues. Or anything other than twee free advertising that I cannot imagine stays easily on her feet. Were I her, I’d “accidentally” slip right out of them and borrow shoes from my driver instead.
