Might as well begin, as Julie Andrews always suggests, at the very beginning. I hear it's an okay place to kick things off.

In retrospect, so much of this wedding involves a full-on Expression of WHEE from its participants. As it should be.

I stand by my love for this dress. To me, it is perfect.

FINALLY SOME MAKING OUT FROM THESE TWO. This is all I ever want. (Also: It might be a fun time to revisit our live-blog of the wedding, in which I get really annoyed with Vera Wang.)

First of all, enjoy tracing the Destruction of Wills's Hairline Over the Last Five Years in this slideshow. FWIW, I actually think the spot he's come to lately is better than the years in the middle, where the front is kinda SORTA hanging on, but not really. Now, he can just buzz the hell out of it and work the Hot Baldie look, rather than the "I'm Hanging On But It's Curtains For My Hair" look. Also, I LOVE this dress of hers. It is DIVINE.

Other than the DELIGHT of them both doing a Synchronized Point -- at the fly-past, surely, given that this is at Kate's First Married Trooping of the Colour -- I must note that I LOVE this McQueen coat. If Kate were ever to wear it again...sigh.

I always like photos of people gazing at their beloveds with delight.

I also always like it when Kate wears a hat that's SUPER on-point for an event. (Here, they're in Canada, ON Canada Day, and that hat is basically a Maple Leaf stapled to her head.)

Who can resist The Sports Faces of the Cambridges? (Kate's is especially funny here.)

Western forearms ahoy!

Still waiting on this movie, Lifetime.

Remember that time they went to Prince Edward Island and Kate LITERALLY dressed like Anne Shirley? (I also noticed that Wills is wearing a flag pin here, and for one brief shining moment, I thought it was the same pin that's in The Royal We, although that would only make sense once they arrived in the United States. DREAMS DASHED.)

They BOTH look snazzy here; of all of Kate's beige shoes, I might like these the best.

SO CLOSE.

Sigh. This gown is ALSO gorgeous.

When I originally posted this -- it's from Zara's rehearsal dinner -- I noted that I had done so just because it was cute. I STAND BY THAT. In fairness, of course, "I included that photo because it was cute" is literally the theme of this entire post.

I covet that sailor skirt. This was basically just an excuse to reiterate that thought.

And there's Harry! (I also love THIS dress.)

Ne'er has prince ever seemed so delighted to be hoisting an umbrella for fair maiden.

I was ALWAYS going to revisit this most glorious of Jenny Packhams.

Sigh. 2012 was an EXCELLENT year. Jubilees! Olympics! Flotillas! Those uniforms on the boys!

Whoops, wrong prince.

In case you forgot how much Harry loves a fly-over. The answer is: A LOT.

...so many inappropriate jokes. Must exercise some self-control. For once.

Harry looks so glum here. Perk up, Buttercup, the Olympics are here!

They clearly agree that the other looks hot in sunglasses.

Poor Harry, part two. (This photo NEVER fails to make me giggle.)

You know it's true love when you feel free to dorkily do the wave in front of one another.

Nothing you can say can convince me this isn't a Dance Designed to Bring Good Fortune to British Athletes.

Yes, I have a gif of this moment on my phone. Yes, I use it a lot. I regret nothing.

It's just too cute.

We've all been there, Kate.

This is RIGHT after Harry's Naked Vegas Escapade, and it makes me laugh. (The next photo is of them smiling widely, but Wills's expression here is just really funny.)

"Are the matching shoes TOO cutesy, Kate? I know they were my idea, but be honest."

Remember that time Wills got stuck in a potted plant?

They're also so HAPPY and TAN when they're allowed to leave the country.

Also one to file under: Makes Me Laugh. Wills and Kate are DELIGHTED and this kid literally has never been less impressed with anything in his entire life.

This looks like the cover of a very sweeping novel set at a remote but romantic homestead in the outer reaches of some beautiful country.

If only this was how they rolled around town in the UK.

Cue some very inappropriate "get lei'd" joke here, which is, I'm sure, exactly what I did the last time I saw this photo.

I ALSO have a gif of THIS moment and I cannot wait until Wills and Kate get to use it to to embarrass their children.

This isn't that schmoopy, but I'm always going to agitate for more drinks in coconuts.

"I hope you find signing guest books togeter thrilling for all the days of your lives" would be a good toast at a royal wedding.

It IS considered polite to let your pregnant wife beat you at table tennis.

Oh, right, remember this? THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED?

I...also have a gif of this. Huh. I truly might have a problem. Well, self-knowledge is a gift.

In which a lady leaves Harry, perhaps for the first time, hanging.

I always loved that George gave his own little royal wave here, in his debut.

Sniff. Sigh. FEELINGS.

Babies: They grow up so fast!

It only felt right to give a little love to Lupo.

Remember that time Kate got REALLY SPARKLY?

Look at that serious baby. Already plotting some naughtiness.

HAND-HOLDING!

MORE HAND-HOLDING!

This remains my favorite family portrait, I think. With apologies to Charlotte and Louis. It's not your fault, kids! (You can buy it in postcard form at Kensington Palace, which is probably convenient for Kate.)

George is not impressed with this gazing. "WE HAVE NO TIME FOR GAZING, DADDY. I HAVE ERRANDS TO RUN, PLEASE. CHOP CHOP."

I love this photo.

"PLEASE let me fly this, Kate. Please. Please. It's mostly unlikely to crash."

I have a weakness for Umbrella Holding Shots.

I TOLD YOU.

These two, as I have said so many times, and will note multiple times in this very slideshow, are SO much lighter and happier seeming when they're not at home. I am sure part of it is the fun of travel and seeing new bits of the world, but I wonder if another aspect of it is just the removal of that "I can't go to the market without people staring at me" feeling they must have in the UK, simply because they're out of their normal life all together.

Boat races ALWAYS lead to canoodling.

SO MUCH GAZING in Oz and NZ. This was the tour where I climbed into Heather's car for a ride to an event and announced, "well, Wills and Kate are just EYE-BANGING all over the place." Indelicate? That's me.

What did I tell you?

Eye-banging AND drinking.

Eye-banging AND drinking AND puppies. THIS TOUR WAS THE BEST.

They look totally charming here, but also I needed to include this because this day led to my being slightly misquoted by the Daily Mail -- the misquoting being in the aid of making the story feel more dramatic which...felt right, honestly, and was a culmination of many of my dreams.

I like to think that Wills has absconded with this giant wombat and keeps it in the master bedroom at Anmer.

The gazing here is good, but let's get real: I'm also revisiting this dress that I love so very very much and also own.

Sporty canoodling!

Forearms!

Flirting!

AMAZING VISTAS!

I'm sure THEY wouldn't like it, but I wish these two could be on tour ALL the time. The pics are so delicious.

Here, they are drinking in Scotland. I was just drinking in Scotland. I WISH I WERE STILL DRINKING IN SCOTLAND.

Gazing: Part Seven: The Gaze Continues.

I just thought you might need a break for Harry and his traditionally goofy behavior.

I said when we covered this, and I stand by it, that if you can look THIS delighted by your beloved when he is wearing something THIS RIDICULOUS, you must truly love him.

This seems appreciative.

And the appreciation seems mutual.

(I could not resist this photo. Harry makes me laugh here so much. He cannot see past Wills AT ALL.)

Sports!

UGH. SPORTS.

Knee grabbing!

Hand-clasping!

Badge shenaigans!

Guiding hands!

Aw, Wills is stuck in a plant again. He has to stop doing that.

We NEVER get to see Kate do the Helpful Hand for Wills; it's a nice turnaround.

Yes, yes, this is a nice moment from them, but I kinda really wanted to see this coat again, as I adore it.

Kate here is newly pregnant with Charlotte and this was basically her first outing since she stopped madly barfing all day long.

In addition to enjoying the gazing, I also love the coat.

I am enamored of the lighting in this shot.

File this one under Cat That Got the Cream, the.

Forearms! Coats!

POPCORN!

Hand-clutching!

Hand-HOLDING!

"My precious darling, make sure you protect THAT HAT."

I didn't get to write the post in which this happened, but Heather pointed out -- and I agree -- that Kate seems VERY into that uniform. WHO CAN BLAME HER?

Everyone needs a bright pink coat. (I have three. That...no, there's never too many!)

Hello, Charlotte!

I love how BLISSFULLY unconcerned that baby is. Everyone, in fact, looks quite blissed out.

I realized we'd gotten VERY far into this slideshow with NEITHER white polo pants, nor a Breton stripe, and clearly that cannot stand.

Yes, it's wholly possible that I am just taking a brief sidebar to celebrate the Glory That Is George. He's just Mr Personality Plus. Look at that face. THIS BOY HAS NOTES.

In all fairness, he sort of steals this shot.

Tennis always brings out the best of the SportsFaces.

I just realized Heather and I never ordered our matching jackets. Dammit.

Rugby hugs! (Actually, this might be soccer hugs. Whatever: Hugs in the presence of lovely muscular thighs.)

I think he likes her all right.

He CERTAINLY likes holding her umbrella.

Then there was that time Kate lost the plot and stole a boat.

It's time for your contractually mandated Prince Harry break.

"We flung ourselves down a rock!"

"We went to an office and answered phones!"

In case you're wondering, I still want to gnaw on wee Charlotte's tiny little face.

The next in an unending series of gallant umbrella wielding.

These two children ARE incredibly cute.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAH we know."

Everyone loves a vacation.

Especially one with weaponry.

Safari gazing!

Hiking gazing!

Talk about a big finish.

I mean, you can TALK about a big finish but HELLO! I have added to this slideshow and ergo we are not yet down. This isn't really gazing, but the babies are cute and why not.

GEORGE!

"Darling, don't you want to get into the car now?" "I'd rather not ride with you when you're wearing that ridiculous outfit, honestly."

I enjoy that here they seem to be SERIOUSLY DISCUSSING their next wager. (This was at Ascot.)

WHEEEE, it's the return of this dress, an A+ gaze, and also William's Sassy Patterned Blazer.

Everyone looks hotter in sunglasses.

Prime Canadian gazing.

It's a relief that, six years in, a royal trip still means COMMENCE EYE-BANGING.

I think I just wanted to revisit Kate's dress here.

"Poppet, your sweater-coat is divine."

The best part of this snap is how Kate is like, "WE ARE ROWING A CANOE THIS IS AWESOME!" and Wills is like, "I'm concentrating now."

Sporty snuggles!

Giant hair poofs!

Behatted gazing!

This was iconic, in Paris.

Everything is delightful!

Unless you're George, I guess. (This photo isn't technically GAZING but it just makes me laugh.) (Also, Harry lurking back there is amusing.)

THERE is some gazing. Ascot gazing, one of my very favorite sorts. (This was the Ascot where Sophie also almost fell into Kate's lap when they were sharing a carriage, so it was an exciting day for the Firm.)

Obvs, we got a lot of DREAMY GAZING on their trip to Poland and Germany; have these two ever taken a foreign tour and not seemingly decided to have a baby whilst out of town?

"Stop, honestly, you're making me blush."

"I just am impressed by...the fit...of that dress. Yes."

Forget what you've heard about pantyhouse and hairnets, the real royal rule is that Kate has to put on a Breton striped shirt and she and Wills have to flirt via nautical competition every 24 months at least, or the kingdom shall fall.

This is a primo gaze, and also a fun reminder of that hat.

"Hold still, poppet, you've got a little bit of Doritos dust on your face."

"Tell me MORE about how much you love whistles. I find it ADORABLE."

Whoopsie, this was meant to go into a whole different gazing post.

These two truly are in their element when doing sport-y events...

...ideally with children.

"It turns out a hazard vest and hard hat really suit you." "And you as well."

"I really think you should wear that hat....more often."

WHAT?! When did this happen?!?!!? Thanks for giving me the perfect button for this year's slideshow, you two.
