Opus is a thriller that involves a presumed-missing pop star and a cult, and Juliette Lewis and John Malkovich seem like perfect casting for that even without any other details. Juliette, of course, used to have a band and DEFINIELY has the notably kooky charisma to draw a writer into somebody’s compound, and John Malkovich seems like he could talk just about anyone into signing over their savings account and/or their spleen. (Ayo, who spends all of The Bear looking hella skeptical of the weirdos around her even though she also bought into the chaos, also fits right into that idea.)
Juliette’s feather-trimmed sequin caftan seems ideal for this — I can totally imagine her kicking off her shoes and spinning around dancing while drinking martinis that she later casually admits she laced with hallucinogens to “unlock the mind cage” or something. And I like Ayo’s relaxed red ensemble. John Malkovich is even out there trying something, although whoever told him the vest plays well with his olive suit may have done him dirty. Who’s controlling him right now, anyway? Is it still John Cusack? Can we blame HIM?
