Thanks to “Regatta Gala,” one of the most enduring jokes for me from Friends, I keep wanting “ballet gala” to be catchy and/or rhyme — like, “Ballet Galay.” Maybe they could have the party in someone’s cabin and call it a Ballet Chalet. Or make it a sampler platter of productions and call it a Ballet Display or Ballet Buffet. I could keep going, with seasonal options — Ballet Sleigh, anyone? — but I’m afraid I’m going to require a commission if I do.
