Donatella streamed her show live, setting it in a replica Atlantis as a metaphor for a society that has fallen and may now try to rediscover itself and rise from the deep. As Marty McFly would say, “Whoa. That’s heavy.” But as much as Donatella talked to Vogue about disrupting things and doing them differently now, the collection itself — its size, both in volume of pieces and in volume on the pieces — feels like something she’d have landed on anyway. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; consistency is a big part of branding. There is a lot in here that will get parceled out to celebs, but boy, my mind is not functioning and so I did a terrible job coming up with ideas for fantasy styling. Save me from myself, Fug Nation.
