The first pick of the WNBA draft this year was UConn’s Azzi Fudd, who can now play with her girlfriend Paige Bueckers on the Dallas Wings. Well, I guess no one knows for sure if they’re still dating, but Bueckers was on-hand last night for the draft and didn’t walk the red carpet or pose for any photographs, so you might assume they’re still a couple and she was just trying to keep the focus on Azzi? I hope this doesn’t put any weird relationship pressure on them; I did see one headline already that said they’re about to have a “big gay summer” together in Dallas. Anyway! Congrats to Azzi, and to the national champion UCLA Bruins, who went on a tear on draft day — much like in the tournament — and had a record six players drafted in the first round. (Go Bruins!!! – J) Everybody’s watching women’s sports! Go get ‘em, rookies.
