Zendaya has been so omnipresent the past few weeks that I was surprised to find that our Year in Zendaya was actually a bit light in the first several months. Since then, she’s had Space Jam and Dune and Spider-Man, in advance of what I’m sure we all hope is an awards run for Dune — not because of the movie itself, but because she, Timothee, Oscar Isaac, and Rebecca Ferguson will all wear interesting and potentially weird stuff on the red carpet. While we wait to see if that materializes, here’s a look at the memorable looks Zendaya and Law Roach created together in 2021. It includes this terrible Burberry, though it may have been for a photo shoot, I’m not sure:

And a David Koma we’ve since seen on one or two other people:

I can’t tell if she wore this Dion Lee privately, or if it was a contender for a premiere that just didn’t make it to the red carpet:

Remember virtual award shows? I wonder if Omicron will kick the Critics’ Choice Awards telecast back to Zoom. Anyway, this was at the SAGs:

I sincerely completely forgot — probably because she was sitting at a computer the whole time — that she basically just wore a blazer. When you’re in your own house, you probably don’t care that much about pants. I do love the shoes, but they’re a little discordant with the “dress.” (I have to put it in quotes. Sorry. It merely alleges to be a dress.)

We also had this Valentino at the Critics’ Choice, which is the opposite:

So much skirt. Oodles of skirt! It’s great; the top and bottom are a perfect casual/formal cocktail. Zendaya and Law do costumey very well, but they also nail the quieter moments — and yes, by their standards, this is a quieter moment.
