HBO Max greenlit a reboot of Gossip Girl — but, it’s more like a semi-sequel, because the original characters reportedly still exist in this new universe even if they don’t appear on-screen (so basically, prepare for offhand references to something Chuck Bass owns or Blair designed, or their inevitable grisly divorce). The newbies are all allegedly unrelated to any of the first crew, and the show is making an effort to be more diverse both racially and sexually, which honestly is the only thing about this that feels worth doing.
