*Other Desert Cities* is a 2010 play by Jon Robin Baitz –[ about whose writing I have waxed very rude on the internet!](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/t/feud) I once used the phrase "[a complete disaster of narrative structure](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/p/feud-flings-itself-over-the-finish)" and also wrote that an episode of *Feud* was "[45 minutes of programming that felt like a series of assignments for an advanced Writing For the Theatre class completed by a marginally talented student who is *very annoying* in class](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/p/the-wretched-penultimate-episode)" and I stand by that – that is currently getting a Julia Louis-Dreyfus-fronted revival on Broadway, one that [that's gotten a mixed-to-positive review in the *New York Times*.](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/18/theater/other-desert-cities-review-julia-louis-dreyfus.html?unlocked%5Farticle%5Fcode=1.J1E.B8VZ.GPzX1FrZFz-T&smid=url-share&ref=gofugyourself.com) (JLD, Allison Janney, and Joe Keery are allegedly great; the set, directions, and Lily Rabe do not fare as well.) It was a Pulitzer finalist when it was first produced – so presumably its narrative structure is okay – and now it's back! Let's see what people wore to its big opening night.
