We have American Idol, The Voice, whatever that Keith Urban show is about winning a spot on his touring slate, and America’s Got Talent, but I guess Netflix decided we as a country were NOT SATED. So it launched a live version of Star Search — produced by Taraji P. Henson, though she’s not seen anywhere near it — where viewers can vote for free with their remote controls. The premiere was last night, but I opted for live Australian Open coverage instead. However, the judges are seen here: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jelly Roll, and Chrissy Teigen, who’d better change her name to Chrissyll Tiegll so that she can fit in with the other double-Ls on the billet. Jelly apparently has lost 500 lbs since 2022 through diet and exercise, which is no easy feat. He looks kind of like Macklemore now. Chrissy Teigen’s top looks like some kind of tinsel placemat that she just laid over her chest. SMG, blessedly, looks super, like a shining star — how appropriate. This is a very unexpected pivot for her, and I can only IMAGINE how it felt for some of the contestants when they realized Buffy would be critiquing them. Maybe they should have dropped the losing contestants into a Hellmouth for effect.
