Diane Warren’s latest Oscar nomination came for a song she wrote for a documentary about herself, and Kesha performed it — so while this does not give Kesha a nomination, she gets to party like it does. I haven’t heard the song yet but the lyrics are… you know, not rocket science; it’s about reassuring your past self that things will work out, and certainly there are few who could deliver that with as much personal connection as Kesha, who has, charitably, been through Some Shit. She has arrived at this party dressed as a woman who recently discovered a trunk of her grandmother’s old clothes from her showgirl days, placed the headdress on for fun, and suddenly became possessed by her spirit. She will spend all night telling people they’re a gas, a real kick in the pants, and then get caught trying to jam a Marlboro into a vape pen because she thought it was a cigarette holder.
