This is another event where the dress code is murky because it’s a lunch, but everyone also wants to look hella red-carpet fancy. I wonder if I would have liked this better on Cynthia Erivo if I’d seen it before she wore the D&G suit to the NAACPs. That was so sleek on her; she looked like a tall boss even though I know the tape measure says she’s petite. Not that looking tall is everyone’s goal, but Cynthia is capable of such a large presence, and I think this is swallowing and shrinking her in a way that diminishes that charisma. Oh well. Maybe the see-saw will go back up at the Oscars this weekend and she’ll slam it home.
