I had to address that important news before anything else. On to this evening’s look!
In short, I really like this. It’s not complicated, but it is QUITE elegant, and it makes me think Meghan might be VERY good at cocktail wear — which makes sense, really, as actresses need to navigate a lot of cocktail-y functions. (I have high hopes that she can give Kate some tutoring in this, as it is Kate’s stumbling block. Kate can teach Meghan which of Harry’s dumb-dumb relatives to avoid at major family functions; Meghan gently can steer Kate’s cocktail attire. FAMILY!)
For those of you who care about these things, the dress is by Black Halo and it IS still for sale on ShopBop as of the time I am typing this. They’ve got plenty of stock in the two other colors it comes in — blue, and red — and my feeling about this dress is that it’s a good workhorse number, one of those frocks you actually can dress up for a cocktail reception or wear to work functions. I have a similar one from LK Bennett (this one, except in a royal blue) and it has sincerely served me well. The shoes are by her favorite Aquazurra and they are GOOD. (They’re also $690.) Harry, obviously, has received his dressing down from the President of the Blue Suit Enthusiasts (his brother) and has gotten back into line.
