Dur Doux is a Black-owned mother-daughter line, based in D.C. It’s been around since 2013, but this Spring/Summer 2021 line marked its debut at Fashion Week — a huge milestone regardless of the infection-disease issue. But, although we agree that there is no such thing as an upside to a pandemic: The in-person eight-day Fashion Week gauntlet tended to leave very little air for the younger brands, because it was all about whether you could get across town for the marquee shows fast enough. Hopefully, absent that brouhaha, those brands now have more space to make some noise of their own.
