I wasn’t really expecting to like this.
I mean, it’s a glorified white shirt. Scarlett O’Hara would have deigned this as a nursing uniform, if she particularly enjoyed feeding people the milk of human kindness. But there’s something sort of genius in its simplicity. Sure, maybe a snug, colorful belt would’ve livened up the joint — in fact, in many ways this is the antithesis of the last thing she wore on this site — and I’m not sold on the hair (is it looped under and pinned into a bob? I’m never a fan of that). But Leelee looks approximately eleventy feet tall, and she’s smiling, which goes a long way. Plus this:
She’s making it look fun. There’s something very The King and I about it — or maybe Florence Nightingale, if Florence were heavily romanticized into a Fraulein Maria type of jolly, singing sprite, who made hospital gowns out of curtains and cured her patients through close-harmony singing and strudel fantasies. I guess what I’m saying is, this dress makes me want Austrian desserts. Is that ever bad?
Is this dress one of your favorite things?
