This shopping post grew out of a reader request in our recent Tote Bags post, and who I am to deny the requests of those readers who don’t want to yank their spine out of alignment by lugging around a bunch of bags, hanging off one side of their body? I admit, I haven’t used a backpack since college (I was a Jansport girl, through and through, although my high school backpack was a sweet paisley number from the Gap that I wish I still had), and I am really pleased to see how many of them are totally appropriate for chic, professional grown-ups. (Also how EXPENSIVE some of them are. I threw in one super-pricy and gorgeous one to our selection, for kicks, but if you’ve got the yen to blow a ton of cash on a backpack, this Marni one is INCREDIBLE. Fendi makes one for $20,000 that I assume actually goes to class and does your homework for you. Wait, I take that back. For $20,000, actually, I hope you can DRIVE TO WORK IN IT. I cannot figure out why it costs that much, especially because a similar one from Fendi is a tenth of the cost.)

ANYWAY. It turns out there a ton of good-looking backpacks in the world that do not cost you the same as a small vehicle. You might want one!

Enjoy carrying all the things — and, as ever, recs and suggestions welcome.

As a general housekeeping note: This is not a sponsored post. Our backpack allegiances are ours alone. Like most websites, GFY uses affiliate links where available, but that only means we get a tiny bonus if you click through. I can assure you that all backpacks were personally chosen by me while I sat around drinking iced tea and watching The Real Housewives of Auckland.
