Regina King is starring in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s latest, Children of Blood and Bone, based on the book and set in “a fictional African kingdom full of magic.” It’s Gina’s first since the roundly praised and sadly Oscar-snubbed The Woman King, and I hope it’s amazing and builds on the success of that film. I mean, Regina King, Damson Idris, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thuso Mbedo, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Amandla Stenberg, and Lashanna Lynch?!? This press tour is going to be AMAZING. Pity we have to wait until January 2027 — and while I was initially concerned by that date being in an awards no-man’s-land, I bet they’ll do a limited release in December to make sure it’s eligible. GO HARD, Paramount.
