The last time we really dug what Charlize was wearing, it was… a pattern. And then the time before that? Well, we had notes, but the hot red blazer has a checked pattern. And how here she is in this very lighthearted, flippy, bright mosaic of a frock.
Is it a little short? Yes, so hopefully she didn’t ever have to sit down (at a screening of her movie…? Hey, maybe she blew it off and stood in the lobby chugging Diet Cokes). But it’s one of Louis Vuitton’s better uses of the ’80s pastels from the Spring 2019 line. I wondered if the belt had been her addition to give it shape, because it seems a little imprecise up there, but indeed it WAS part of the runway look. As much as I dig oxblood, Charlize’s black boots and indeed the all-black accessories work better for me, and Seth Rogen thoughtfully looked snazzy in a complementing blue — a damn fine accident indeed — to complete the whole picture.
So what I’m saying is, Charlize, please keep branching out in this direction and leave the severe monochrome cuts and the ghastly black mesh bags at home.
