Porter is produced by Net-a-Porter, and publishes six times a year, I believe (once for each of the four seasons, and then two additional “escape” issues in summer and winter). We don’t cover it much, mostly because I don’t cross paths with it, but the other night it threw a party for its Incredible Women issue and that made me wonder what other covers it’s done this year. So, above are the three Brie Larson covers for Winter 2017, plus the others thus far. And below, we have the attendees, including cover star Brie herself.
This is Chanel, it looks like chain mail, and I also somehow feel like I’m staring at her entire boob. Nip and all. Is it possible to be opaque and see-through at once? Surely not, per physics, AND YET. (I also think Brie’s stylist needs to put her in shoes that don’t look like her fifth toe has been removed.)
Charlize is in Givenchy, and so sight-undeen she’s already at a place of bring 60 percent better — but this is also legitimately fantastic. I love the way she wears blazers. Is that weird? She just looks GREAT in a jacket, which should not be hard, and isn’t really, and yet it’s noteworthy.
Mary J looks fab in this Toni Maticevski. I love it and I’m looking forward to seeing what Law Roach does with her during awards season, assuming Mudbound gets the accolades people are expecting. However: LIPSTICK. Even just a jab. You need a mouth, Mary J!
I was going to say, “I LOVE this dress. I wish I could see the rest of it,” and then Elizabeth wrote on her Insta that this is a DVF jumpsuit. I might still be okay with it, but I now feel like I actually need to see the rest.
K.Bos has on an Erdem I actually like, which is a miracle. Here is a look at the runway version, so you get a frontal view. The bow is a bit much, but it wouldn’t be Erdem if it was restrained.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw is SO FAB in this Burberry. We’ll get to that runway show soon, as it’s especially noteworthy now that Christopher Bailey is leaving after a very long tenure.
This Marc Jacobs on Selma is also super. Did EVERYONE look good at this except for Brie?!?
I can even live with this! IT’S A MIRACLE. I think the score of this slideshow is 7-1. MOST IMPRESSIVE, Porter.
