I am….so tired. Every time I open my news app, it’s like [!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] So let’s just dive right into this.

Sunday was the Emmys. We had complete red carpet coverage here, and ran down the bests and worsts of the ceremony and red carpet at Drinks With Broads. (We also had a rollicking live chat!) Also at DWB this week, we apologize to The Bear and ruminate on the death of the movie star. Plus! A fresh recap of Only Murders in the Building.

Speaking of movie stars, we did a large retrospective of Robert Redford during the pandemic; it seems timely to check it out again. No man ever wore aviators glasses better.

And I rounded up a bunch of nice things for fall that might, I dunno, cheer you up?

At Vulture: Robert Redford’s Impossible Cool

they’re rebooting Anaconda? Really?! (It does seem like it might be a joke. Like, it’s HAPPENING but the movie might be joking.)

An excellent read: Jessica Buttafuoco’s Life Has Been Shaped by Her Father’s Crime—and Relived in a Pop-Culture Nightmare Loop. This poor woman has really been through it.

Cardi B. and Stefon Diggs are having a baby. Mazel tov to them! He certainly seems like he’s a better partner than Offset was, although that is admittedly a low bar because that relationship seemed very tumultuous.

This is cool: The Most Elusive Apartment in NYC May Soon Be for Sale. I hope one of you buys it. And invites us over.

A fun piece: The WAG Effect: How the Formula 1 Mainstays Became Global Fashion Icons

Truly fascinating: The History of The New Yorker’s Vaunted Fact-Checking Department.

Madewell is having a 30% off sale right now, btw. (I really like this plaid trench, but I am not allowed to buy any more coats.) (I also love this lightly wacky fringed suede jacket but it’s $$$$$$ and also I JUST SAID I can’t buy any more coats.)

Really interesting; these scams are getting so sophisticated: “I’ve Written About Loads of Scams. This One Almost Got Me.” ALWAYS HANG UP AND CALL THE BANK BACK.

Lord, what a total mess: Publishers Clearing House’s bankruptcy means ‘forever’ winners will no longer get paid.

I remember more of these than I expected: The Covers That Shaped 40 Years of ELLE

I LOVED reading about all of these: Creative Hands-On Retreats

I just got these lug-soled loafers from Margaux (after having seen them all over the internet) and I regret to report I REALLY like them, because they are spendy. I feel like they’re gonna zhush up a bunch of my old boring jeans/sweaters combos once cooler weather gets here AND would look cute with skirts. I have the black ones but the oxblood ones are kinda great too. An investment, but maybe a good one?

Stephanie Meyer wants to re-write and re-release her Twilight books — because, per her, she’s “a better writer now.” This both makes me laugh because it’s VERY relatable, and also feels like she was inspired by Taylor Swift re-recording all her albums and making all that money again. Do we think the Twilight crowd still even exists in the way they used to? I feel like they’ve mostly moved on to something else. Maybe not!

Ugh: AI Is Making Online Dating Even Worse. It was bad enough when it was real people just sending you, solely, “hey,” as an opening message.

Yeah, this seems right: Elizabeth Gilbert’s New Memoir Is Sometimes Raw But Mostly Aggravating

These Bibliostyle posts are so fun.

I feel like I’ve mentioned this before, but I really love this lip balm/treatment/gloss. I actually think it has helped my always dry lips. Also, it smells like guava. (Related: Nordstrom is having a 15% off beauty sale this weekend. A lot of their classic beauty brands are included –Kiehl’s, Clinique, etc. — in case you need to stock up.)

This is a hell of a read: Patrick McGovern, the ‘Indiana Jones of Ancient Alcohol,’ Dies at 80. It’s SO interesting.

Definitely relevant to our interests: Breaking Down the ‘Downton Abbey: Grand Finale’ Dress Code (No spoilers! I also haven’t gotten it together to see this one yet.)

Finally! The people at Elemis gave me a code!!! (I LOVE Elemis, as you know, primarily because I won’t shut up about it.) 20% with FUGGIRLS20. (Having said that, I think they’re having a 25% off sale today, so you should probably use that code instead and get that extra 5% until the sale ends.)  I’ve been using their It-List Kit and it has made a sincere difference in my skin. (I have also been trying out a bunch of serums lately, and it turns out that actually using skincare with regularity does help. The sound you just heard is my esthetician sister saying, I TOLD YOU.)
