What’s with the shark floating out in the water behind Kate’s boat? He shows up again while they’re on the dock.

That just shows that Kate has the support of the local shark community as well. Even vicious man-eaters like a girl with good fashion sense and pretty hair.

From what I read online, it’s a shark costume of sorts. There are people underneath and they followed the awesome tribal boat carrying Wills and Kate.

      That’s definitely a dolphin.

I thought it was a shark and thought “SHAAARK!” and then I came back to reality and thought “they would never put her on a boat where a shark is so obviously camera whoring.”

It’s a tradition, the shark brings good luck.

      Also, its fake.

oh my god. The shark is hilarious. I didn’t even notice it, then read your comment and went back and looked and cracked up. I love it, even if it is fake!

I was looking at it and thought no way did someone just photo bomb the royal couple in a shark outfit.

I like her hair BETTER like that than all curled and smoothed. Not that she could do that every day, but in a setting like this–which I think we would charitably describe as “rustic” (except for that awesome beach and so on)–it looks right, where the tight curls would look too stiff and “done.” Yay for Kate. She wins again.

Blast Catherine in all of her all-natural bed head glory.

That explains why her hair looks awesome straightened at the roots and curled at the ends. It makes me feel a little better that I’ve never been able to pull of Kate hair-styling with my board-straight strands.

It’s a fake shark. Some of the villagers swim around under them, accompanying the guests. See photo 4 also.

Is it bad that I kept expecting them to offer Kate and Wills an orange soda, a la “Joe Versus the Volcano”?

    That child is freaking adorable!

Kate (and Wills) look good– I love Kate looking natural and not all done up in a few of these pictures. Sadly for us mere mortals/non-princesses, she still looks freaking great. Le sigh!

Y’know the way that child looks? That’s how I feel when I get back to GoFugYourself again.

What I love about this is that the traditional necklace she was given at the greeting works perfectly with her outfit. That is planning.

Hey look she has a cowlick in front just like mine! Wonder how ofter it drives her crazy like mine does?

    • Kat

Cowlick in the front here, too. It’s a nightmare! #firstworldproblems

Oh my god, that damn cowlick. It makes my bangs do unspeakable things. Unspeakable.

      • michelle
        0

Amen to that- I’ve cut the bangs short, grown them out, had them somewhere in the middle. Somedays nothing works, except a headband.

When I was junior high, I wished for a cowlick like that. Anything to add a bit of volume around my face at the top of my head.

My cowlick is why I had to grow out my bangs. Couldn’t deal with it anymore!

Wow, Kate can really move! He, well… um, I love that he’s going for it!

What a nice young couple. They are doing their home nation all kinds of good, I am sure!

          0

LOVE that video! Kate is so lovely and looks like she’s trying to follow along and, well, like someone said, Wills is trying :-) Someone made a comment here the other day with regards to the photo scandal about how hard it must be to remove all spontaneity from your life just so no one can take a potentially embarrassing photo, which would definitely be a buzzkill. In light of that, I’m especially glad they danced, and they look like they might be having a little bit of fun too. I’m sure if I was one of the people they were visiting, I would remember their visit all the more because they seemed to enjoy themselves and participated, and didn’t just sit and wave and smile politely.

Is it really weird that that video kind of made my eyes leak?? Must be the hormones. I love seeing genuinely happy people.

And Kate’s hair is officially perfect.

I love the photo of them dancing. Will just looks like a good time. He is one of those men who can be serious and adult, but also just let go and have fun and that is sexy. How can she look so good in the middle of the jungle with the heat and humidity? I only have one tiny comment…I think she should wear her hair up more often, I don’t know how she is dealing with it down her back and neck in the kind of weather they have been in.

    • Edith

Imagine how Will feels – he’s been in a suit nearly half the time. Eeeek!

      • michelle

I was thinking the same thing- how does Will cope with the suit in all that heat!

Well played again! Her natural hair is fantastic. As are those dresses. siggghhhh

Her hair in #3 does look amazing…I’ve always suspected that’s what it would look like if it was less “done.” Also, hooray for shirtdresses!

  16. Steph

Is the yellow shirtdress the same yellow dress Kate wore during her Canadian tour? It had a very similar look, at least. (I loved it then, I love this one/same one now!)

Having travelled into climates like that with that ridiculous amount of humidity, I want to know her secret. I stepped out of the hotel and needed a shower 4 seconds later. Do you think she installs tiny fans into her clothing? Or has tiny fan handlers, unseen to the naked eye?

I just hope to all that is holy that shark comes after any paparazzi who try to take any pics of them at that gorgeous private lodge/beach.

And Kate does have the most beautiful, bountiful hair on the planet.

  18. Marie

*sigh sigh sigh* Kate is awesome. And the kind of awesome that other women naturally respond to in a nice way, not in a way that you’d want to push her off the boat. Hair = Love. Shirtdresses = Love. Yellow Shirtdresses = Love ++.

Beautiful hair, beautiful clothes, blah blah blah. I’m probably the only person who reads this site regularly that has Kate Middleton fatigue.

    • Libby

If it helps, I sometimes tire of how much I get fan-girl-crush-squee over Catherine and William. I think I must eventually lose this level of excitement. But it hasn’t happened. Yet.

I finally understand my grandmother’s feelings about Diana.

Libby: “I finally understand my grandmother’s feelings about Diana.”

So much this. I can’t help it. I squee every time.

No, you’re not the only person. I commented something similar during the Olympics. I just like the community of commenters so much that I continue to participate in the Kate threads sometimes, even though I share your fatigue. Actually, to be more accurate, I was never into Kate Middleton or the Royals to begin with, so it’s not really fatigue so much as a sustained “whatever.” But I still have thoughts about her outfits/hair sometimes.

The lady beside Kate in the yellow-dress picture is stunning. Also the little kid really turned it out for the visit. Hats off to non-Western fashion, too!

    Really?? REALLY?

I don’t look nearly half that fresh after doing myself up in an air conditioned house!!!

But also I love them together.
    Happy people make me happy.

is the black dress a shirtdress? I really don’t see the “shirt” part (no obvious buttons or collar) that is evident in the yellow one.

Kate looks so much younger without all the makeup troweled on and the reporter hair. Lose the black eyeliner for good, girl…you look so fresh and pretty.

Okay, I know I’m late to the party here, but has anybody else noticed the UFO in the picture of their lodge?
