Well Played, Thandie Newton

well-played

I don’t know why Thandie’s posture is so defeated. If I woke up and I looked like her, for one thing, I would essentially be doing cartwheels constantly and singing, “LOOK AT MY FAAAAAAACE.” (I would be beautiful but very irritating if I woke up and looked like Thandie Newton, apparently.)  Second of all, this dress is DEEPLY festive and requires that you bring some oomph along with it:

It’s like fireworks in dress form. I can’t figure out what the letters say, but maybe that explains it. Maybe they spell out the message, “the gleeful beading on this frock can not mask my inner pain. Fug Madness is stressing me out.” In which case, I feel you. But take a look in the mirror, Thandie. You are gorgeous and this dress is adorable. That can’t cure everything but it definitely doesn’t hurt.

She looks perfect, as per usual, and I am deeply, deeply enamored of her dress.

Ha! I feel the same. She’s on my personal list of Most Beautiful. That face. It’s perfection.

Good dress, too. I might prefer it in less muted tones, though.

I’ve loved Thandie ever since Mission Impossible 2, and I’m soooo happy to see her looking so great here! Now when is she gonna get some awesome parts?! Granted I haven’t seen Good Deeds yet, but the last quality thing I saw her in was Crash, and that was… not very recent.

She is a regular working actress – not a superstar, but not suffering either. Most of her work is in the UK.

As far as this goes, I am not sure she looks sad – maybe wistful? Anyway, she is super-gorge, and that dress is beautiful.

She is so absolutely gorgeous that you don’t notice the dress- I guess all she has to do is not try too hard or wear trollopy clothes.

I love this dress, but I think it’s terribly sad that it isn’t being worn by someone who can at least fake a sense of fun! It’s a very fun dress, and its exuberance is being tamped down terribly by the wearer, and the dreary accessories.

That dress is way cuter than a sartorial expression of The Electric Company has any right to be.

Ooh, I know this one! It’s the opening credits animation sequence from the 1970s Wonder Woman tv series, in dress form! (I’d love to see it in better light.)

That dress would be perfect, adorable, kicky, fun… if the colors were brighter! As it is, the funereal muted colors put a damper on its spirits.

As for Thandie herself, I think she’s just hungry. The dress is hanging off her, and it’s a designer size.

I really disagree with the criticism of the colors; yes, they are muted, but they look awesome with her skin town. This is amazing, and a welcome respite from the extreme fug of the tournament!

Love the dress–the colors, the beading…would just glow in fire/candle light.

I bet her feet, ankles, knees and low back hurt…

Not really a fan of this dress and it looks like it weighs a ton!

I think it spells out Rockstar – looks a lot like this one – http://www.etsy.com/listing/117137715/vintage-beaded-and-sequined-silk-rocker?ref=shop_home_active
