Well Played, Emma Samms

well-played

It’s been a while, but she looks basically exactly the same:

And for that, and her polka-dots, I give her a hearty round of applause. You know what else would make me clap for joy? A Models Inc. revival. Come on — we’ve resurrected 90210, Melrose Place, even Dallas. Dynasty is too much of a sacred cow for me, but don’t we all want to know where the models went? Remember how Carrie-Anne Moss was drugged and sold into sex slavery? And how the girl who was thrown off the balcony in the pilot turned out to have a dead-ringer sister? And there was the boring pouty girl who was on Melrose and keyed the spinoff and ended the series in rehab, and the mean blonde Australian who was totally awesome, and Garcelle Beauvais, who shot her abusive ex. And so many people with Secret Pasts. And did Emma Samms’ character REALLY get shot at the big wedding? I mean, if Kickstarter is going to become a breeding ground of Hollywood projects, let’s make it count.

The one scene that sticks with me from Model’s Inc. was the young blond chick, showing up ridiculously drunk to a casting for a hair ad or something, and basically slamming her head face down on the casting agent’s desk to properly display her awesome hair. It was great. I wonder if the show is available anywhere online.

Mmm, I dunno, the fabric looks kinda cheap and I think it needs tailoring. The bodice doesn’t seem quite right and it’s just exactly the wrong length, neither floor nor puddle hem but somewhere weirdly in between. Not crazy about the bun atop the head either.

It’s all right, nothing terrible, it just could’ve been a lot better so easily.

    ohh, Fallon!
ohh, Models Inc… yes, I’m old!
    ohh, I love the dots.

You didn’t include “ohhh, Holly from General Hospital”, so you’re not that old. But clearly I am.

        haha… and, wow, she’s 52??

She was my favourite as Holly. Her and Robert Scorpio… I believe I stopped watching General Hospital shortly after she left. Fallow was always Pamela Sue Martin for me.

Yes, I immediately said, “Holly!!” when I saw her pic. She and Tony Geary both rocked the short curly perms back in the early 80′s on GH.

And let’s remember how she left GH–she was ABDUCTED BY ALIENS. And we all went, “Of course.” Ah the 80s. How I miss that decade.

Outing myself as a GH nerd (I used to watch it with my nanny as a kid), but I believe she left the show the first time, in the 80′s, when she was killed in a plane (or car?) crash. But then she re-appeared briefly in the early 90′s, messed about with a few different guys (including Bill Eckert, whom she had been involved with in the 80′s when the same actor played a different character, Luke Spencer), and jetted off alive and well.

The GH alien storyline was in 1990, and Holly wasn’t involved with that, Anna was (Robert & Anna 4-Eva!). And the alien was a nice guy, no abductions involved :).

Good grief at how much of this I remember.

Clearly my addled brain got Holly and Anna mixed up…it’s been…well, you know, 23 years and, let’s face it, I haven’t always been good to my brain cells!

@qwertygirl, believe me, the fact that I can recall, in great detail, a silly TV show I watched as a child when I’d have to really think hard about what happened at the work meetings I went to *this morning* does fill me with an appropriate amount of shame :).

I looooooved Models Inc. I loved The Mean Australian Girl Julie so much that I used Julie in her honor as my fake name whenever I needed one in college.

I am sooooo imagining all the times you needed a fake name in college! I am hoping that most times you had too much fun and had to somehow leave without a trace!

I am soooo down for a Models Inc revival! I loved it. And I like this dress. I keep having visions of Emma Samms as Grayson wearing a choker and a blouse with long flowy sleeves. And let’s not forget the hair piled on top of her head…good times….

She looks awesome! So pretty and makes me feel way better about hitting the big dreaded 40 next month. She’s still got it at 50 plus. And love the polka dots.

Not having watched any of the aforementioned shows, I had to Google Emma Samms’ biography because I was incredulous that she’s over 50. In fact, she turns 53 this year! Holy cow, she looks fantastic. Ditto the love for the dots!

I’m not normally a fan of polka dots, but this is a lovely, lovely dress. Bravo.

She looks incredible, and about 20 years younger than her actual age.

I have no idea what ‘Models, Inc.’ is or who is this woman, but DAMN I love the skirt of that dress! I wish the whole dress was polka dotted and didn’t have that sparkly waistband, but she’s beautiful and looks great!

I have no idea who this woman is or what her TV show was, but HOLY CRAP SHE’S IN HER FIFTIES? I wouldn’t have blinked an eye if you’d said she was 25.

Love polka / French dots cause I had a BF who hated them and thought them matronly, for no reason. (we were in our 20′s)

I can’t believe she’s in her 50′s. That is some good work, y’all. I want the name of her dermatologist and plastic surgeon for future reference.

Heather — where was this picture taken? I’m curious because I haven’t heard of her being involved in anything for a while, showbiz-wise.

I loved Models Inc. although now that we’ve had endless cycles of America’s Next Top Model, I’m not sure that Models Inc. would fly anymore. I would much prefer a revival of Knot’s Landing, not so many fabulous clothes (except for Paige) but I loved that show. How about a revival of Savannah instead?
Emma Samms must have a painting in attic somewhere like Dorian Gray because she looks fabulous.

I also had to google her, and I found this CRAMAZING photo of her (and Ken. Just Ken.) on commons from 1990

    Gotta love that dress!!

Yes! I am still left wondering what happened to the slavery story when the model woke up chained to a bed in Central America and was told “you’re in hooker hell, Honey!”

That dress is butt. I don’t care how old she is.

She looks AMAZEBALLS! How has she not aged a single day since her time on GH?

Emma Freaking Samms will ALWAYS be Holly from G.H. to me. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen her since then, and she looks EXACTLY the same. And she’s 53 years old? What da HAIL? I love her (like I have loved her fellow Brit Finola Hughes ever since seeing her in that cinema classic Staying Alive). Sigh. Those were the days.

Ditto! I’m almost 20 years younger than she is and she looks better than I do most days. I’m insanely jealous.

She certainly looks YOUNG, but I honestly can’t say I would have recognized her. She used to be such an extraordinary beauty, now she looks sort of run-of-the-mill attractive 30-something.

I have no idea who this person is & her dress is pretty ugly… But she for her age looks amazing!!

“And how the girl who was thrown off the balcony in the pilot turned out to have a dead-ringer sister? ”

Emma Samms is actually dating British comedian Jon Culshaw who is famous for a show called “Dead Ringers.” They appeared together on the Baftas red carpet together. I just thought I’d put that out there.
