I don’t care what anyone was wearing at this: They are all great. I cannot imagine how enduringly difficult this time has been for the victims and their families, and I wonder if this concert was bittersweet for them indeed. But Manchester’s celebratory vibe was doubly poignant on what turned out to be another scary weekend for England and the UK as a whole. When it feels like the world is crumbling around us, I want so badly to believe that there is power and comfort and hope in something so simple as joining hands and pulling each other up. I think there has to be. Otherwise how else do we keep going?
