Bee Shaffer usually looks glorious at the Gala, and almost always in Alexander McQueen. If I’m doing my Googling correctly, Comme des Garçons did sometimes play with patching together competing textiles in this manner — see also: Rihanna last night — and so this seems a fitting homage that still gives Bee the gilded elegance that’s become her trademark.

A.Dubs, too, managed to look exactly the way she always looks, despite not technically wearing the same garment.

But what is that cloud doing hovering down there in No Man’s Land? I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure Rei Kawakubo’s study of “the in-between” was intended quite so literally.
