You’re the cutest.
PS: Say hi to Neville for us!

It is some kind of miracle of brains, good parenting, humility, and luck ! He is wonderful – such a tonic for Monday morning. See, tacky Americans, not all child stars want to show us their you know whats!
Why do you feel the need to insult Americans because of what some American child stars do? I think that’s tacky!
He came close to not turning out ok – remember that whole drunk all the time during filming thing?
And he did do Equis on stage and he did show all his you know whats. For the arts yes, but he still showed his goods!
I was fine with the Equus nudity. It’s a difficult part, and that’s really inherent to it. I think it was a very classy way to say, “Hey, I’m really a grown-up actor now.”
Tut, tut Mary Lou. Some, not all! Generalizing usually never ends well!
I was thinking the same thing–they’re not being American is the main reason they’re not screwed up.
I’m not sure why a post about a British actor’s appearance in Italy immediately produced anti-American sentiment, but it’s not appropriate.
All righty! I think we can all agree that celebs of all nationalities have the ability to be tacky OR clasy — witness this entire website. And now let’s move on.
He’s ADORABLE! I love all of the outfits, especially the one he’ll wear to the ping-pong tournament at Fug Nation Compound: Cape Cod and the Retro one! So cute! I can’t wait for all the seafood and white wine we’ll have! And when we do Fug Compound: Venice, all I need is pasta and Bellinis and I’ll be happy!
Yes, I’m hungry!
Hmmmm… Fug Compound: Venice, the show?
Because maybe we could get all this comped if we let some idiot film it… and I’ll join you for pasta and Bellinis anytime! Heck, I’ll MAKE them.
AWESOME! I’ll make the tiramisu cheesecake and cappuccinos for dessert! Then, we can go flirt with some gondoliers! And, of course, if we do a show, we’ll have to be known by our usernames, like the “girls” in Flavor of Love!
Ha! That sounds like a BLAST.
As an Italian, I feel compelled to tell you that having cappuccinos for dessert in seriously frown upon around here! Whenever I see someone drinking cappuccino after 10 am, I just know they must be tourists If you want the real Italian experience, you should probably get an espresso with your tiramisu! That said, I’ll gladly make pasta for everybody.
Thank you, but we’ll be at the Fug Compound and most of us will be tourists, so it doesn’t matter! Plus, I don’t drink espresso! I’ve been to Italy and I have a picture of me and my friends drinking cappuccinos at a Café in Piazza San Marco in Venice at night! I loved it!
Oh, I didn’t mean to sound rude or anything, the cappuccino thing is just something I noticed working as an interpreter for American tourists. They all thought drinking cappuccino all day long was such an Italian thing to do, while in reality it is considered rather uncustomary. I still wonder where that cliché came from! Of course there’s nothing WRONG with it, especially if you’re doing it in Piazza San Marco (love Venice, probably one of my favourite places ever.)
Daniel does English Schoolboy Prep really well, and it looks good on him. Major kudos for non-sagging pants. Bieber, are you paying attention? I swear, “A good tailor is a man’s best friend” should be on a lesson at every young man’s 16th b’day. That, or given to them as a T-Shirt. I’m pretty tired of seeing my compatriots with their pants at their knees hanging on by strong thighs and a prayer.
I just like that he has his own style, but that it’s not a style of insane whackadoo craziness that he’s shoving down our throats. He’s a bit cheeky with colour, but he sticks to ensembles that are tried and true.
Plus, growing up on BRITISH film sets surrounded by the likes of Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane must have been an entirely different experience to an American child actor. Not to mention being pretty much the best acting school money can buy. It’s so good that they paid *him* to show up and get acting tips from Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter and Julie Walters and so on.
And yet I get the feeling that some of those actors might be a trifle eccentric! I’m not sure HBC is a mentoring sort. Emma Thompson seems to be but she was barely in the series.
Well, I don’t necessarily mean they sat down and had acting lessons, but you can learn a lot from observation and what better cast to be able to observe between the ages of, what? 10-20?
Since when does eccentricity correlate with bad acting (in either sense of the word)?
Radcliffe’s developing a genuine sense of personal style, isn’t he? How nice!
The pants are all a little tight for my taste, and he definitely needs to work on hem lengths. But I really enjoy seeing a young man take an interest in clothes. Overall, he looks quite dapper, and I love that he likes that!
And, yes, it’s so great that all the Potter kids seem to have grown up to be well-adjusted and lovely people. We in the U.S. should study how the U.K. handles fame for its young’uns and take a page from that book.
He looks fabulous! I think he has come into his own and will have a stellar career. In my heart he will always be Harry Potter though. (see: Tammy Taylor, Pacey, Buffy et al)
I really love the blue jacket! I hope some day you guys really do set up a Fug Cruise or Fugcation. There could be Fug the Fromage viewings with actual cheese and lots of wine, and Downton marathons, and chocolate tastings just because, and Danielle Steele book readings…I just.. TAKE MY MONEY.
And it culminates in a ball, in which we all dress to the theme of that year’s Met Ball and ACTUALLY WORK THE THEME, unlike most of the actual attendees. Because costume parties are fun, and people should embrace them more often.
And it needs to be a Mediterranean cruise with ports o’ call at Monte Carlo and Cannes at just the right time and I don’t know where Lake Como is, but we need to work that in somehow too. Book me an outside cabin!
Lake Como is in Italy, north of Milan, very close to the Swiss border! We would have to dock on Genoa, Italy, which is close to Monaco and get to Lake Como by land!
I am so there! I’ll have little parties on my balcony, we can swan around in our caftans…. Someone needs to get on this. Stat.
It is my fervent hope that someday there is a GFY convention. I don’t know the particulars, but someday… somewhere….
Yaaaaay Daniel Radcliffe. And I’m so pleased that he’ll be invited to Fug Nation Compound. So very pleased. FNC is one of your most brilliantest ideas, ever.
I gotta give props to any guy on the red carpet who looks sharp when dressing up. I’m beyond tired of some guy wearing thousands of dollars of ill-fitting Hugo Boss — suit jacket too tight, pants pooling at their ankles. And they stand there unshaven with their hands crammed in their pockets. If you’re going to be an incurable schlub, just wear blue jeans and chucks already.
So stay, adorable Dan. The world needs you.
I particularly love the way a bit of his shirt cuffs are exposed, even when he wears a jacket with mere jeans.
My theory for why the Harry Potter kids turned out ok is that they never had to worry about their next meal. They had seven, then eight movies they were pretty much guaranteed to star in, in a franchise that is super famous. They’re set for life and didn’t need to act out to get attention.
Or maybe they were terrified of getting fired and had to behave.
Either way, yay? DanRad looks great.
I don’t know. I think it’s probably in part because they were ALLOWED to grow up on screen, as opposed to being deemed too horrible from public consumption around the age 13. And in part because they had a stable set of very accomplished people who were with them throughout. But I think in the end, it comes down to Hollywood being a terrible terrible place to grow up. DanRad struggled with drinking, but he wasn’t an emancipated minor living in his own suite at Chateau Marmot (or whatever it’s called). Intense pressure, yes, but not COMPLETE INSANITY.
And I think a LOT of people were really invested in making sure these kids weren’t exploited by dirtbags. So there’s that, too.
My husband is of the shorter variety (yes, I am taller than him.) He gets all his pants hemmed, even his jeans. I’m glad DanRad had his dress pants properly hemmed, I’ll give him a pass on the jeans – it’s hard for tailors to get the hem to look right with jeans.
PSA Alert: Don’t discount men because they are short or shorter than you! Short men are awesome! (Or jerks. It really depends on the person, not on his height!)
I feel you, Ruth. My father is 6′ 6″ and he’s a jerk.
I get an early Beatles vibe off the last outfit. Very John Lennon (but shorter). I love how he owns his smallness. He seems to have great hair too, lucky boy.
His hair is gorgeous. He could probably wear it just about any way he wanted. This schoolboy cut is very cute!
He gets points from for wearing the same shirt in different ways. Good for him for packing like a normal person!
Great. I just get over my intense Bullock/Clooney ‘shipping, and you throw up back -to-back posts to convince me that DanRad needs to couple up with Dakota Fanning. They would be so charming! And talented! And sane! And WEE! And look so delightful together in sunglasses.
I saw him on Broadway when he starred in “How To Succeed…” I happened to catch the show during Broadway Cares week. He spent at least 30 minutes on stage after the show ended raising money and interacting with the audience. He was DELIGHTFUL. He was kind, sincere, charming, and funny. Well Played, Radcliffe Parents.
Now I like him even more!
I think he’s adorable but he needs to have all his pants hemmed to fit, even the jeans. I have short legs and a seamstress hems my pants for me, $5 a leg. Surely with his gazillions he can get his jeans to fit.
Why does he comb his hair that way? It looks like a toupee.
The retro blue jacket makes me incredibly happy….and now I want to see it on Joseph Gordon Levitt too!
As someone who just got back from a honeymoon in Venice (swoooooooon) I fully support the relocation of the Fug Compound to Venice at times…. I’m already in seafood/pasta/aperol/gondolas/everything withdrawals.
Best wishes, and I’m green with envy! I visited Venice thirty seven years ago and have yearned to return ever since.
Congratulations, Erin G! Venice is definitely in my “Must Go Back To” list!
Thanks to both of you! We had a wonderful time… safe to say, I’m already saving up for the return trip
He looks dapper.
Only I hope he’s playing this Allen Ginsberg and not Alan Ginsburg, which sounds much more drab. (A minor quibble!)
a splash of Neville would’ve been nice
You had me at carbs.
DanRad is so lovely and I’m very pleased that we are inviting him to the compound. Other Delightful Men who I would like to invite: Intern George (of course), Pacey, Matt Damon, and Neville because obviously.
Now I’m off to start badgering my husband to get this haircut.
I love that he’s got such a cool style – but more important than that: I have decided that I now have motivation to start playing the powerball lottery. If I won many millions of dollars, I could totally make GFY compound happen, even if it involves partial time in Venice. Fingers crossed.
