The Stage Door Fines and Fabs of Jessica Chastain

Here’s something interesting: Jessica Chastain always, ALWAYS has a smile and a wave for the paparazzi waiting for her at the stage door. She always seems relaxed and happy on her way to work — it’s kind of refreshing to see. Her outfits? Super normal — but let’s look at them anyway.

In photo 10 I love that she is holding a Kleenex box. Because that is what you need back stage.

The last picture totally underscores that “RELAXED” is better than “TRUSSED UP” for JC. She looks great (clothes, face), but uptight.

She looks lovely – as in she looks to be a lovely person. Keep it up JC. And I covet her red hair. That is all.

I , too, love love love her read hair and the fact that she is very talented and seemingly nice and relaxed and very grateful that she is now getting good job offers instead behaving badly….

I am extremely jealous of her coat collection! Because:

    a) I can’t afford all those gorgeous coats
    and
    b) city apartments don’t afford closet space for a coat collection such as that.

That blue on her in the last picture is wonderful. If anything this post makes me somewhat sad because here she is looking great 96% of the time and then award season is going to roll around and her stylist(?) or her “designer” friend is going to f’-her up. She’s just so pretty and seems so likeable that I do NOT want this to happen to her again.

Sigh, I totally agree with you. She looks fantastic in these casual photos, I dread how she is going to look during awards season (maybe she could use the stylist who helped her in Cannes last year, keeping my fingers crossed).

This is one interesting bunch of pictures. I have often disliked her red carpet looks (not the stuff she has worn, as she usually wears pretty dresses, but the overall looks…she often fails to nail it on the red carpet) but I quite like what I’m seeing here. In my book, StageDoor!Chastain beats RedCarpet!Chastain by far. I guess this means she tends to look better in casual wear rather than in formal stuff?
I don’t know. But I surely know two things:
    1) the first pic might be the most glorious hair photo ever taken;
    2) this slideshow would have gotten even better with the inclusion of some Dan Stevens. :-D

So basically she needs to fire her stylist. She does perfectly fine on her own, and is a master of Casual Modern Polished. Meanwhile, whoever dresses her is trying to push her into Ladylike Refined, and it clearly chafes.

      A-freaking-men.

Also, her hair in the last picture makes her forehead look huge. It’s odd.

Yep. That’s a very tall forehead. Her hair is GLORIOUS. Why is she pulling it back so hard, when it obvs needs to be in Duchess Catherine casual waves all the time?

          Could not agree more.

Just curious — what’s going on with the hair in photo 1? Wind tunnel? Hair just ouf of orange juice can curlers? Updraft of wind while she’s standing over a grate, i.e. Marilyn Monroe in The Seven-Year Itch?

It’s just very windy. While Boston is the windiest city in the US (see here), New York, where I think she is in that photo, also has pockets of very intense and multi-directional winds, I think largely created by the way it’s built.

Forgive me – that’s contiguous US. I am sure there are cities in Alaska that are windier!

I thought she was just trying the Eddie Redmayne look for kicks.

Thanks for the info, Helen — that’s just a crazy ‘do, kind of Dr. Seuss-like.

I know, that hair shot is too funny. And VERY Dr. Seuss! :-D

As an Alaskan, I can confirm it gets awfully windy here–I lost power for several days in September due to a massive windstorm. Not sure if it’s windier than Boston, though.

Why is she not fronting her own line of sunglasses? her specs are AWESOME.

    Several thoughts.

    1. She is GORGEOUS. That skin! Hair!
    2. Such a chameleon – she could be a different person in each photo.
    3. She’s completely lying about her age – late 30′s, for sure.

Dang! She has an enviable collection of sunglasses (clearly follows Fug Girls’ mandate that everyone looks better in them). I. Must. Buy. More. Soon.

Even with her hair like that in the first photo, she looks poised and sublime.

She’s so pretty. But those shiny boots are just vile. I’m sure they cost many, many dollars, but they look super cheap.

Couldn’t Dan Stevens have photobombed one of these pictures? Le sigh.

Does she have a personal wind machine?

Awesome hair in photos 3 and 8! She seems so likeable!

But why is her purse so huge in photo 9? I never understand why so many women have to pack for a weekend trip just to go out for lunch. That said, it’s a pretty weekend trip bag.

Ha!!! Love the 1st picture! I am desperately seeking the boots she’s wearing in Pics 4 & 5… WANT! And, I’m IN LOVE with her whole outfit in Pic #7! COVET! Damn, she’s SO ADORABLE & CUTE!

This goes a long way to making her seem approachable, which is kind of requirement to becoming a popular film star in the United States (there are people like Angelina Jolie who seem untouchable, but is she really bankable as a movie star anymore?). I had an impression of a neurotic artiste. She feels about 35 to me in her clothing choices. Polished, pared down, just the essentials. And as for that MASSIVE pink purse, well, maybe she’s got a pair of heels and a book or two stashed in there. Plus sunscreen because this is a woman who clearly understood sunscreen and proper hydration at a young age.

And I know why you like those puffy boots. They’re practical! Those looks like useful boots for hiking around New York on a cold day. I would never wear heels that high, but she clearly has no issues with coordination.
