Let’s be honest: I’m mostly here for the sunglasses.  This show is not particularly good, in general, although I thought this episode was the strongest of the three to date — perhaps because it goes beyond the Bitches Hate Each Other/Can’t Work Together trope to examine more of Bette and Joan’s inner lives, their relationships with their daughters, their sad pasts, and, in Joan’s case, their loneliness. I continue to live in a strange place where I think Jessica Lange is giving the better performance, but I like Bette better (perhaps because Joan is in a bit of a sad-sack place, and Bette mostly storms into rooms wearing sunglasses and a casual fur, then sweeps out).
