The Fugmazing Spider-Man

I really wish I could eavesdrop on Emma Stone’s phone calls to Andrew Garfield about the nuts and bolts of being on a press tour with Nic Cage. I feel like there would be so much, “He keeps talking about his shrunken head collection” and “I think I’m being groomed to appear on the next Book of Secrets. I’m a little scared.”

I think you might mean National Treasure. Book of Secrets was the sequel.

But, since you’re the Fug Girls, all is forgiven! :)

I thought this was Jamie Pressly, Not sure what I thought Jamie Pressly has been in lately to be out and about, but still… That can’t be an endorsement for this hair, makeup or the sleeves.

i totally thought it was Jamie KING! weird how she doesn’t look like herself, although i think the 60′s inspired hair and makeup is cute on her. just can’t sign off on those sleeves.

Me too!! I had to compare to the photo of the real Jaime King below this post to believe that it wasn’t actually her :/

        Me three!

The sleeves are whatever, but I really don’t like that lipstick color. I kinda like the mesh part.

Same! I honestly can’t tell the difference between Jamie King and Jamie Pressley, now I can add Emma Stone to that list.

Really?? In my mind, Jamie King is so much prettier! She has very small, delicate features, very cute-sy and feminine. Jamie Pressley is just…. blah to me. Not delicate or pretty or even feminine. But yeah, who knows where my brain got all that from (probably the movie Pearl Harbor and the tv show My Name is Earl).

I thought it was Nicole Kidman looking like she was having a really bad day. In general, I love Emma Stone but this is not her best look.

Her face/hair area is really distracting me from even the sleeves. I just.. she doesn’t look like her. Bleh.

Are her eyebrows usually that prominent? I’ve never noticed them before. Perhaps the make-up artist wanted to make the1960s vibe more obvious.

As soon as I saw this the sleeves horrified me. This could be a really cute dress if it had fitted sleeves. Or no sleeves. Or any sleeves but these.

And I wish she was still a redhead.

I really like the netting bit at the top. And, whilst I don’t actually like the sleeves, they do add interest. I think she pulls it off because of her humorous smirk – she isn’t taking herself or her clothes too seriously. And the dress would be too plain without them – though I’m sure there was a better option out there somewhere, I give it the thumbs-up.

I totally concur. If one were to take it too seriously it would fail, but Our Miss Stone once again pulls it off.

The sleeves are atrocious as executed. But, for some reason, I’m now really hankering to see this dress with a toned down version of the sleeves. Less billow. Same fabric. I just really love the cuffs on the sleeves with all those little buttons. But on second thought, I don’t think they fit at all with the mod/sixties thing, though. So maybe what I want is for her to wear a different dress with sheer, long sleeves (slightly puffed), with those beautiful cuffs (I dunno…something with a 1930s flavor? or like, neo Victorian?).

And ew, different hair and makeup (she does look like some kind of Miller Pressly hybrid, which sounds like it should be attractive enough in a vague blond way, but just has no nutritional value).

Im getting concerned about her. She isn’t looking like her usual self and that worries me. I LOVE YOU EMMA! DONT TURN INTO ANYONE ELSE!

I agree. Her face looks gaunt and washed out. She looks so much older than she is, and it seemed to happen very quickly. I hope she is healthy. Her dress doesn’t make me half as sad as what has happened to her face. (I am really hoping it is just unflattering make up or something!)

      • Vandalfan

She looks exhausted. If the dress was sleeveless, that would be a huge improvement, but there’s still her hair, lipstick, and make-up to fix.

I would love this dress if the sleeves were simply removed, leaving just the band at the bottom of the netting.

This was my thought exactly! I just want to hack off the billowly part of the sleeves, and this dress would rock. With different lipstick.

I was hoping that shade of lipstick would never reappear after that horrifying event in 1967 forever known in my highschool history as “The Tussy Lipstick Incident” , but I see our sins are bound to revisit us. Ditto the sleeves on that dress – I think it was Homecoming, 1966.

I like the dress, but for the billowing bit o’sleeve.

if she and her stylist were going for the 60′s vibe, i say go with a kitten heel instead of those boring pumps. otherwise, better sleeves, better lip color.

Going to chime in as the minority here. I like this. I like it a lot. It actually looks like something that Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink would construct. I say that as a good thing :-)

I think it’s that she is such a lovely readhead and that blond is harsh, especially with the lipstick and brows. None of this is doing her skin any favors. Hence the unfortunate LiLo overtones.

        • Christine

That’s kind of odd since she’s a natural blonde, not a natural redhead!

That lip is really just awful on her. Maybe it’s just the lighting, maybe it’s the red carpet, but it just does not look right with her coloring.

On the other hand, I don’t hate the sleeves, but I wish we had a shot of her in motion or something to show them off. She doesn’t look like she’s enjoying herself here.

    • Kat
      +2

Yes, the lipstick is just awful with her skin tone. Sorry Emma.

And I would love the whole mod look of the dress WITHOUT the billowy sleeves. Just leave the sleeves at the netting, and it’s still mod and 60s without getting weirdly avant garde about it.

  17. TaraMisu

Ugh no to the whole thing… Start at the top of her head with the hair and the lip color looks really “off”…. the sleeves have to go. The rest of the dress is ok, I don’t hate it, but then we have the zzzzzzzzzzzz shoes zzzzzzzzzz.
So better hair style like soft waves, red lip, rip off the sleeves and maybe a pop of color with the shoes. Turquiose?

Mesh topping or batsh*t crazy sleeves. Pick one, you can’t have both. Also not a fan of the blinding bubble gum lipstick. I hate that that is trying to be pushed as a new hot color. Maybe in 1987 it was a hot color or for 13 year old girls but for any woman above the age of 21 she should put down the bubble gum lipstick. It’s just not flattering.

Definitely thought it was Sienna Miller, and my second thought was, “Um, what are you promoting…?” Hate the sleeves, would like the dress much more without them and perhaps with just netting in the top. Or no netting. No netting is always my preference. But I do appreciate the pale splendor of her legs – it gives me hope that, come leg-bearing season, mine too will look nice and not retina-scarring.

I too thought it was Jaime King! The sleeves are totally distracting; without them this would be a really cool dress.

I like it as a late ’60′s Barbra Streisand nostalgia piece. It seems I’ve seen a lot of pictures of her in things like this from that era.

Maybe she looks unhappy because she’s freezing! I’ve been to Berlin in the wintertime and it was cold the likes of which i have never before or since experienced.

It doesn’t help that in photos 2 and 3, it looks like she’s working some kind of novelty hair accessory, the colour of each of which offsets the yucky pink lip.

Absolutely getting Sienna Miller from that first picture…specifically September Issue Sienna Miller. It has to do with top knot hair and the make-up. I really don’t mind the dress/sleeves but this isn’t the best she’s looked. I hope she goes back to being a redhead soon.

Poor love -she seems to be going down the same fabulous redhead to skinny blonde Botox freak that Nicole Kidman ” popularised ” – don’t do it! Gain a few pounds pet, and lose the peroxide. And the really weird styling decisions. AND the sleeves.

I’d love this dress if the sleeves ended after the 1st fabric band and were cap sleeves! She is so pretty, but what has Revlon done to her? Is she contractually obligated to wear those neon lipsticks? Because, NO! I think her hair looks cute!

I thought she looked like Kate Bosworth! Kate usually has her hair up in that kind of topknot, and looks very thin like that. The sleeves of the dress are bringing back very fond memories of a blouse I had in ninth grade wayyyy back when!

This look is a little too Sharon Stone-y for me, but I love her so much it doesn’t matter. She looks lovely as always, even in a go-go space viuda cobweb dress.

I think she’s had work done. And a shame that is, because it’s not good work. I noticed it the other day, when the nose I saw on Easy A bore no resemblance to the current nose. I think the reason she doesn’t look like herself in these photos is because she no longer looks like herself at all.

I LOVE Emma Stone but lately she seems to be looking less and less like the Emma Stone brand we have all come to know and love. Her face looks odd and, dare I say, like she’s had work done. (?!). I can’t imagine she has since she is SO YOUNG but ….maybe it’s just drastic weight loss. She was always lovely but this is looking like a generic version of pretty. Yawn.

Coincidentally, I posted as my Facebook status this morning that I was wearing a new lipstick that looked as though my lips had been dunked in Pepto-Bismol — which was not a look I was going for. And then I saw this. Who knew I was so (inadvertently, hideously) fashionable?

I have very strong feelings about her blonde hair, none of them good. But I love the dress. And I wish there was a shot of her moving her arms because I think she CAN move them, but for some reason stayed stiff-armed in these shots, like she was trying to show off the dress rather than just wearing the dress.

I really, REALLY hate that lipstick on her. I’d love the dress so much if the sleeves were chopped off, though.
