The Fug Wife

It must have been hard to be Anika Noni Rose for awhile. I mean, who even remembers you were in Dreamgirls when the other two Dreamgirls are Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson?

Luckily, she’s redeemed herself via a tremendously satisfying arc on The Good Wife, where — SPOILER IF YOU’RE NOT CAUGHT UP — she was SUPER sanctimonious and then got her ass handed to her. But listen, ANR, you did a great job with that as an actor. You are not your character. THERE’S NO NEED TO PUNISH YOURSELF LIKE THIS.

To be honest I love that on her. The colour looks amazing with her skin and it’s different in a good way.

Well maybe she’s decided she can’t get attention the appropriate way and is thus acting out via poor taste in fashion. We need a Tim Gunn intervention. He’s running around fashion week, can you two ladies flag him down and send him out on a mission?(Ask him to hit up Miley Cyrus and Christina Hendricks while he’s out and about.)

I actually really like this on her – the colour is gorgeous, and it’s drapey but not unflatteringly so – looks very nice, if maybe too summery for the season! =)

Agreed. the only thing I can find wrong with it, besides some minor Concerns on fit, is that it’s a bit springy for February. But … it’s a springy February. Team Rose on this.

I agree! This dress is gorgeous, and she loks lovely in it.

She is so beautiful. These colors are great on her – and I flinch when I see peach, but she’s got the skin tone to work it – but yes, the dress is not great. The apron-front style nearly never works, and here it’s just making me want so much more for her.

Huh. I’m neutral and bored about this. I guess in fashion that is as good as dead. Nice color though…

I’ll take this off her … I would love to have this while on the beach in Hawaii or somewhere similarly fun.

ANR was terrific in The Number One Ladies Detective Agency – she played Mwa Ramotswe’s very proper, well trained and uptight assistant.

I loved that, it was a shame they only made 1 season–that I know of.

She was supposed to perform a season at the Stratford Shakespeare festival… only a few miles away from us here in London, Ontario–and hometown to Justin Bieber!!!!! But she decided to be in The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency instead. Good for her, too bad for us! :)

I agree with other commenters… I think this is sort of fabulous. Looks comfy too.

This looks comfy, but too much like an apron. Maybe she could go to the Oscars in it, accessorized with flour and distribute the biscuits she made it in for all those skinny starlets to eat.

Let’s not forget that Anika is an official Disney princess and is set for life! I just want her, and Mandy as well, to make better career choices from now on.

I want to like this, and I kind of do… but it kind of looks like she forgot dryer sheets and another garment is static-clinging to her dress. I think if the blue floral piece were incorporated a bit more fully, it would work.

That’s it! If she took off the toddler flower dress that got stuck to the front, we’d have a winner. She positively glows in that peach. I like her delicate shoes, too, as they’re the right scale for someone so petite.

I really like this. It’s just different enough to be interesting, but not too out there. I would wear it (perhaps on a lovely summer day, not so much February, but hey).

She was excellent on Good Wife and to hold your own on that show is saying something. I love Allan Cummings’ character – delish. But anyway- ANR was also great in The Ladies Detective AGency. She looks cute and relaxed here… give her a break.

The peach color is lovely on her, but the overall effect is a bit too Holly Hobbie for my tastes. I think I might love her shoes.

She was ALSO great in “The Princess & The Frog”

It’s the proportion of one fabric to the other – they’re fighting for dominance and neither is winning.

Also this unfortunately looks like a very large belted potholder on her, so I get where you “apron” people are coming from.

What? Were you baking cookies and realized your lateness for this soiree, and thusly bolted from the house without first removing your apron?? I do not fancy those colours either!

It looks just like the aprons my grandma used to make for herself. Very practical around the kitchen but not exactly appropriate for wearing out to an awards show.

Yes, Lucille! She was awesome in the Ladies Detective Agency series. But the dress – not so much.

I don’t hate it? Okay, I sort of like it. It’s a color I really like, but just look “okay” in, whereas she looks really good. But I’m not holding that against her. Her hair looks really pretty. Yeah, it’s a little spring-like, but not a bad spring-like.

Funny, I thought she wasn’t very good on Good Wife. She had about two different notes in all those episodes, and the most interesting, humiliation, did not come till the very end. Anyway, this dress is not good.

Isn’t there a 4th Dream Girl that people cared even less about (who replaced J Hud in the band when they kicked her out)? I feel bad for that girl.

She was FANTASTIC on The Good Wife. Her character was so deliciously awful and she played it so well. Plus, she’s now playing Taye Diggs’s bipolar sister on Private Practice (uh… not that I watch Private Practice… um… on the regular?).

ANYWAY! Yes, the dress is bad. But she’s still kinda awesome.

Looks like she’s just a throw away from her pottery wheel. The fabrics are both nice, the casual cut of the dress nice, but somehow they don’t go together too well.

This looks like she pinned her daughter’s or her niece’s flower dress to the front of her mother’s peach lounge-about number. Not good at all.

This dress looks crafty, as in homemade or Home Ec class made!

Ohhf. I thought this was Solange looking prettier than she ever has, despite the ugly dress.

Number One Ladies Detective Agency earns her unlimited passes, as far as I am concerned. Plus, the shoes are much worse than the dress.

She’s going to hate me, but I’d probably have liked this better on Solange.

Yeah, I said it. Not only did she get upstaged by Beyonce, I think Bouncy’s sister would have worn this better.

That said, I hated this, but now I’m beginning to reconsider. But…come on, Fug Nation. She is wearing an apron glued to her dress. It may have been a good idea to start, but seriously, NO.

Clearly, I’m missing something. A number of my fellow fuggers seem to like this.
This is absolutely horrible!! However, her skin looks amazing!

I actually don’t hate this. I kind of feel like I should, like there’s some expectation of hate, but I can’t. It’s kind of cute.

Well now maybe this is ‘wardrobe’ from her new gig on Private Practice playing Taye Digg’s younger sister who has for 20 yrs been living on the street, doing drugs, selling her body and being misdiagnosed as insane when she’s merely bi-polar .. and man oh man has she ever got the nicest whitest teeth I’ve ever seen on a junkie/hooker whose been on the streets 20 yrs … seriously, casting department .. seriously make up peeps?

I really like the print, but the dress as a whole is sloppy-looking.
