Sundance Fugs and Fabs: Shailene Woodley

Do we think she was ASKED to go with a ski theme, or that she’s just moved to thematic fashion by the surroundings?

Aw, lighten up. She’s young, it’s Utah in the winter, for cryin’ in the sink, and she looks healthy and happy. Usually love your stuff, but this felt a little mean-spirited.

Certainly wasn’t intended that way. Sundance is all we’ve got right now and I don’t like overalls, and actually I said some nice stuff about her coats… Shocked and sorry that it read mean.

Come on its overalls, nobody should wear overalls over the age of 5!! They are hideous!!

I didn’t feel the comments were mean at all. I lived in rural Idaho (less sophisticated than Park City for sure!) and even the gals there didn’t wear overalls unless they were wearing Carhart’s to change oil, stain their houses or buck hay. Overalls, if you’re not working in the garage or yard or if you’re older than 3, are fugly.

          Howdy!

We Idaho skiers concur those are certainly not ski bibs, as they are called here. The waist sags to her hips, and snow would get right in when you crash.

Someone always says this. “I love visiting a website called ‘Go Fug yourself,’ about famous people with more money than taste, but THIS one felt a little mean-spirited.” I think it’s only fair that everyone famous enough to show up on red carpets is subjected to the same healthy cynicism.

I’m her age and it’s -17 here in Montreal, but I still don’t think I’m going to stoop to overalls yet!

I’m sorry, but all I see is her glorious shiny hair, bright eyes and pretty skin. She’s just at that stunning age. Enjoy it young lady because it doesn’t last, alas, even for clean living folks.

I’m sorry, but all I see are her terrible, terrible shoes. There is NO excuse for taking only the beat-up shabby pair and wearing them with everything.

Seriously, though, I can’t even see the overalls for the awfulness of those shoes.

I want to see Brie Larson in bigger movies – she was so great on United States of Tara (sob – another great show RIP).

I think she looks cute. I don’t like the torn jeans, but I’m 100, so there’s that. I like the overalls. I might not on someone older, but for a younger person, I think she looks fine.

    I want that cardigan.

Yeah, her clothes are pretty inoffensive.

She’s so pretty and well moisturized. I look like stale toast when I’m in the mountains during winter. No one there is probably noticing her non-glam clothes.

It’s definitely not that I expect her to be glam. I just don’t like overalls and I literally think that about frostbite every time I see someone in torn jeans in a cold climate, as someone who went to high school in Canada.

not her best looks, i agree. but she’s so smiley i’m willing to let it slide.

She is getting a lot of love, but I really can’t stand any of the clothes, including the coat!

I looked it up; she’s about the age of my niece. My niece lives in the cold up north, and this is pretty much what you’ll see her in all the time. So I think it’s just age/weather appropriate. Do I wish my niece would wear the nice velvet jacket I got her with a pair of decent looking jeans? Yes, but she’s not going to, and that’s okay.

She even kind of looks like my niece in that picture, which is why it made me think of her.

I’ve lived in Utah. I have relatives still in Utah. Utah hasn’t gotten above 20 degrees for at least a month now. Stop wearing jeans with holes in the knees, girl.

Also, even though Utah is far from the most fashionable place around, I’m pretty sure that absolutely NO ONE in that state above the age of three wears overalls.

Overalls are/have been vexing to me over the years. There are one of those things I see on other people and think they look cute in a kind of fun, boho, casual way. Then I try on, and see my behind in the mirror. Yeah, not so much of the cute. But it usually looks good on These Young People Today, which is what I said initially.

The incongruous thing is that both Shailene and Brie are wearing fancy overalls – both look brand new, so maybe they share a stylist who wants to inflict this look on us. It’s the kind of styling you might see in a catalogue trying to persuade us that this is cute, and in Shailene’s case, it’s almost convincing – but she’d look so much better in jeans or a skirt. Overalls generally smush women in an unflattering way, as Brie Larson demonstrates – it’s a garment best left to girls closer in age to Scout Finch.

Ugh. I just can’t even with this girl. I’m glad that she’s super smiley and that people apparently think she’s fresh faced – but to me the omnipresent bun is just terrible and makes her look kind of greasy.
Don’t mind me though, I’m a crank tonight.

Thank you! Why are these messy top knots so fashionable? I mean, I don’t wash my hair everyday either, but there are so many prettier ways to style second-day hair.

I’m not bothered too much by the clothes. But the same pair of beat up looking shoes! Those are ruining any casual style the outfits might have.

ARRRGH, please don’t tell me this means the 90s are back. I AM TOO YOUNG FOR THE 90s TO BE BACK ALREADY.

In the early 90s I wore corduroy maternity overalls covered in cabbage roses. And you wonder why Laura Ashley went out of business.

I thought she looked adorable in the overalls and sweater. The big hole in the jeans was more worrisome.
