    Lange looks wonderful! LANGE!!!

    :(

The site has been particularly difficult to navigate these past couple of days with lots of messages that the site can’t find this or that object. I am depressed now, but will keep coming back!

    Love, love, love being here.

The slideshow is being a little wonky for me – skipping slides, telling me pages aren’t found. I know you guys mentioned you were having issues yesterday, so just thought I’d chime in. I’m using Google Chrome.

    • TonyG

I am trying to use Firefox and Explorer.

On this particular slide show, the Bush Philips and Edie Falco slides are giving me errors.

Same problems in Safari, but it won’t stop me from visiting and thoroughly enjoying this site!

Ooh. I must respectfully disagree about La Lange’s dress. It fits beautifully, but the patches on the bodice looks like the face of a Transformer. Or an evil blue-period tribal mask. Erg.

    • AmandaD

Agreed, the color is great on Lange and I do like the skirt, but the bodice is all kinds of horrible.

      • Mrs. Ditter
        0

Do NOT like Lange’s dress. The skirt is sheer and I swear I’m seeing granny panties there–are you giving it a pass because it’s not as sheer as everything else that’s been burning our eyes? I also don’t like the sheer parts around her waist. And I really like Falco’s dress! Oh, FugGirls, I hate it when we disagree!

        • Mrs. Ditter
          0

Okay, so on closer inspection (Good God, I have a deadline to meet and should not be looking this closely at other people’s clothing), it looks like nude lining? I STILL HATE IT. It’s just not flattering at all.

I didn’t like Jessica Lange’s dress, but your comment about the Transformer face makes me LOVE it! Not for it’s dress properties, an especially not an awards show, but if I knew it was intentional I would be all over it. I kind of wish I had a Transformer dress in my closet…

    • Jenna

Yeah, the bodice ruins it for me on Lange. I almost thought you were messing with us because it does kind of look like “a mesh top without a bra or something.”

Busy Phillips is bunching strangely, and while I’m glad she’s wearing a bra/I’m sure her pregnant ta-ta’s need it, I don’t think I should be able to see your support garments through your dress. I agree with the other commenters saying she’s wearing a dress that was fitted back in her second trimester. Too bad, because aside from the fit, it’s a lovely dress.

I’m late to the party the last few days, and it all worked fine in Firefox yesterday, but I’ve got naught but Jessica Lange so far this morning.

  6. Lil

Ooh, agreed. I liked this at first, because the fit is really nice, but now I can’t unsee Transformers mask…

I’m glad others are having problems because I was beginning to think it was just me! Will still keep trying though.

I’m a huge fan of Jessica Lange but not a big fan of her in that dress. It’s not awful, but she can do better.

I can’t see Busy or Edie’s photo in the slideshow, and it says 9 comments but I only see one. So sad!

  9. gin_in_teacups

That WAS Carmen Electra. My housemate and I were like “Is it? It can’t be. Why would she be there?” And finally decided it was a look a-like who was wearing the hideous/trashy version of Jennifer Lawrence/Amanda Seyfried’s lovely gowns.

    I third that.

Is anyone else having issues viewing some of the slideshow pics? I can’t see Busy Philipps’s gown, nor Edie Falco’s.

  12. Melly

Jessica needs better makeup, and the bodice of the dress is not very appealing.

  13. malie

Yeah, something’s definitely wonky. I can’t even get to some of the slides at all. I just get the “oops” page.

  14. filmcricket

Was Simon Cowell at the SAGs? I can’t imagine why he would be, but he and Electra are dating, so if he was there, she would be too.

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one having problems. Will have to check in a bit later…you get a pass this time Fuggirls (just kidding, you’ll always have a pass)

I’m sorry, but a woman of her age should not wear sheer cut outs. From far away the bodice is okay, but upon a closer look, the cut outs are just bad.

    • LoriK
      0

I honestly don’t think it’s her age. I don’t think those sheer cut outs would look good on anyone. The bodice is has too much going on for them to work. It makes it look way too busy.

Speaking of Busy, I think Busy Phillips’ dress went way beyond “body conscious” and into “we did the fitting a month ago and didn’t leave nearly enough room for expansion.” It’s a good thing that kid has a built in oxygen supply or it would have suffocated.

Mayim Bialilk seems to finally have figured it out. I have a question about Busy Phillips’s dress – there’s basically no underwear in the world that you could wear under a dress that tight, right? I think she looks great, but I’m curious.

  18. LT

Whoops! You guys got Carmen Electra’s caption wrong. I think what you meant to say was:

No. Seriously. Why IS Carmen Electra at the SAGs? BOOBS.

    You’re welcome.

ACK! The slideshow won’t work at all in Firefox and I can’t see Busy or Edie in Explorer…help?

Blossom looks AWESOME! Especially compared to her recent appearances. Modest yet hot. Well played to the max.

    • Aparatchick
      0

Agreed! She looks great. I know she’s said before that she wants to dress modestly. She seems to be doing a lot better at not interpreting “modest” as “dowdy.” Good for her.

      • Margaret
        0

Third this. Possibly the best I’ve ever seen her look, and I love the color.

  21. Jessica

Both Busy and Edie should appear now; clear your cache if not. Apologies for the on-going technical issues. Our tech team is working very hard to fix a complicated and long-ranging issue. Thanks for your patience.

  22. Joe Dwarf

Really, Edie gets the “Yikes” and not Busy? That dress is a horror show starting with the shoulder pads.

  23. Aria
    0

Blossom wins this round, in my opinion. She followed her beliefs in being modest, but is a very pretty dress and she looks great. I love me some Busy Phillips, but that dress is just too tight.

You don’t like Mayim? Do you watch ‘The Big Bang Theory’? I think she’s the best character on that show, she’s hilarious.

    • Miche
      0

I am a huge fan of the Big Bang Theory but I don’t care for the character of Amy. Part of that may be because I also don’t really like Mayim, and I’m not entirely sure why…maybe the way she presents herself in interviews/on Twitter? I don’t know, something about her rubs me the wrong way.

That dress is great on her though, love that shade of blue and I always love her hair.

      • Maggie
        0

I live in Europe and I’ve never heard of Mayim before. I’ve never seen Blossom or know anything personal about her.
I guess this is an advantage then?

    • Zulkey
      0

I find her a bit of an ass-ache with her childrearing stuff, not because I have issue with how she chooses to rear her kids but because I have a feeling she’d judge the shit out of me.

  25. Karen

I’m surprised you don’t like Edie Falco’s dress; I’m REALLY surprised it got a “Just no.” I think it’s got clean lines, it fits well, and she looks elegant in it.

Meanwhile, I hate the bondage bodice and sheer cutouts on Jessica Lange’s dress. *SOB* I hate it when we disagree!!

Good luck with the tech issues…

    • Bonnie Klein

Glad i am not the only person who liked Edie’s dress. She looks lovely.

    • that girl
      0

I agree on Edie’s dress. When I saw it on TV, I thought “Now that’s how you do sheer lace!” I thought the pattern was interesting without being too busy, and the color was stunning on her with the darker hair. Maybe it just photographed badly?

      • Emma
        0

Yeah, I don’t really understand the “yikes” after Edie’s dress. I would have thought she was pretty safe.

  26. Vandalfan
    0

Mayim’s belt should be thin and black. Jessica’s should not do THAT from her midriff to her hips. The revealed nude satin lining (?) covered with sheer navy tulle makes it look like a bruise or other strange skin condition.

  27. gryt

Jessica Lange looks wonderful. I love that smoky midnight blue shade!

  28. Dee
    0

The color and general shape of Jessica Lange’s dress are great, but the actual execution of the mesh is all kinds of no.

Blossom, I thought, looked lovely. Did I read somewhere that she wore more modest dresses for religious reasons?

    • Sajorina
      0

      Yes, she’s an Orthodox Jew!

      • Caro
        0

If that’s so, where’s the head covering?

        • Jessica
          0

She IDs as “modern orthodox,” per Wikipedia, so I believe she dresses modestly but doesn’t feel the need to cover her hair. (She could, of course, be wearing a wig, which is in keeping with Orthodox traditions as far as I, an agnostic, understand them.)

I like Jessica Lange’s dress, expect for the weird stuff going on at the waist.

I think Mayim looks great here– conservative but not frumpy. My only complaint is that the belt she’s wearing it totally lost against the patterned lace. Otherwise, A+!

I want to like Busy’s dress, but… I’m not sure I do. I like the idea, though. Love the long sleeves and the chunky jewelry.

  30. AM

I think Edie’s dress is perfectly fine. I’m not loving Busy’s although she seems like a nice person and a good friend. I really don’t like the tight pregnancy outfits. I’m not saying you need to clothe yourself in yards of fabric or stay in hidden until after the birth like ye olde days. But I would like that dress SO much better if it went out under the bulges inside of hugged in. Let’s give that budding baby some breathing room (and it would be more flattering).

Busy Philips’ dress is all kinds of terrible. I absolutely support pregnant woman who don’t want to hide their shape, so to speak, but there is not hiding your shape and there is being really, terribly unflattering to your shape.

    I like the necklace though.

    • Hima
      0

I completely agree. I like that the dress is body conscious and features her pregnant belly. That part is cute. But her boobs look terrible in it – mishappen, pressed flat, just weird. I am sure her boobs look better than that, but the dress was so unflattering to them.

The only dress I like here is Mayim’s and her styling is beautiful! The dress is a gorgeous color, it fits her perfectly and is modest without being matronly! She looks FABULOUS! The best she’s ever looked! It is a WIN for me! FAB!!! And, I’m a fan of hers… I love Amy Farrah Fowler!

    • Peggy L.
      0

Me too! Mayim looks so pretty, and that color is to die for. She took Amy Farrah Fowler and ran with it. Some might her ideas as off-putting, but I think her written words don’t always clearly show the wry wit behind them.

      • Jessica
        0

I’d just like to state for the record that my issues with her have nothing to do with her parenting philosophies — that’s none of my business.

        • Sajorina
          0

I have personally never read anything she’s written! But, I love her on “Big Bang”!

  33. Megan

I like Busy’s dress, but I keep looking at the material and wondering if she was just sweating through it.

I love me some Busy Philipps but her dress made me so uncomfortable – too much information! I have to agree with the commenter who said it looks like it was fitted for an event a months earlier. I was afraid the poor bebe was being crushed in there.

  35. Christina
    0

I like Edie’s dress – simple and classy if a tad too long!

  36. exquisite red

Really glad Blossom got it modest and not totally frumpy. It can be done! This might be the best red carpet I’ve seen from her ever…or at least lately.

I don’t like Busy’s outfit at all, except the kickass necklace and clutch. I don’t care for the fabric (ok, well I like the color), and the shoulders look strange. I’m okay with the idea, just not really the execution. There’s some strange tailoring going on, and some odd details – are those ZIPPERS on the sleeves? WHY???

I do, however, LOVE that she’s not doing the “I’m not fat, I’m pregnant” tummy grab, though, since it seems almost all pregnant celebs do that (like that ugh Jane Krakowski stuff from a few years ago) when they absolutely have to be out & about during the latter part of their pregnancy. You get a pass, Busy, for being confident enough to realize that we know you’re with child and not just eating everything in sight.

  37. Glenn

Busy’s dress looks like the maternity version of Hilary Swank’s Oscar gown.

  38. Sarah
    0

I think Mayim looks amazing and wish you would give her the props she deserves. I agree she usually doesn’t look great (and I LOVE her, I think she’s great, a strong, proud woman who isn’t afraid to be open and candid about things, it’s refreshing). The blue looks great, the dress in all look fab on her body. And her hair…her hair is just amazing, the shine alone could blind you.

    • Caro
      0

I think Mayim is a great big WEIRDO, and to me she was overpraised if anything. She just looks a little less like crap here.

  39. Esme
    0

That dress is a tad too young for Jessica Lange.

  40. Caro

Ugh, Jessica Langue: Mutton dressed as lamb (in a sheer pelt).

  41. Emma

Mayim Bialik has made GREAT progress. I think she looks as beautiful as I’ve ever seen here, and I’m impressed that she’s struck the right chord between modest dressing in keeping with her ‘Modern Orthodoxy’ and a really stylish, flattering dress.
