The lack of lining really does need to be over now, but at least this collection isn’t actually ugly.
omg, that purple dress would be amazing on eva green. she has the balls and coloring for it.
Love 6 and 7. The last one if was a little more sheer looks like something Anja Rubik might wear.
This is the first collection where I’ve really experienced ‘I want!’ Although yes, we really need to bring lining back into fashion and indeed existence.
This (with lining) is restoring my faith in fashion.
Oh, my God, what a relief to see some just-plain-PRETTY dresses.
FINALLY a collection that doesnt make me want to scratch my eyes out!
The purples and teals are stunning. Just line some of that shit and Im totally on board.
I am happy that in about a year or two, some of this may trickle down into my budget zone…
Some of these, I actually liked so much, I did a search for Elie Saab ready-to-wear – which Saab, I’m delighted to find, does make! Some of the prices are crazy, but for daily-wear items, not so much – and they’re very wearable. Shops are limited, however.
Here’s the Store Locator page, in case it may do you any good!
Thanks for the link. Gorgeous colors. I look forward to seeing some of those suit pieces on The Good Wife.
Oh, good thought, Sweetsinger, TGW’ll probably use them. And the pieces that aren’t too trendy – I was surprised how many there were – really are not insane for those of us who aren’t on TV, either! They should be excellent quality that will last a long time.
Forgive my fashion week ignorance but I have a question. If most of these dresses will be lined when worn in the real world, what exactly is the point of not lining them for the runway? What is the bizarre fascination with seeing underwear and t*tties at these shows?
The occasional flashes of semi-nudity keep January Jones awake.
Helen, can we be best friends? Haha!
Okay, but I am not doing anyone’s toenails or hair. We go out for that!
The overkill of the sheer notwithstanding, most of these were quite pretty and wearable. Now if only the models didn’t look like unwashed tuberculosis patients.
Exactly. The clothes would be even prettier if the models weren’t styled like death, their hair and make up is hideous.
Elie Saab is just about my favorite designer for dresses. She designs for the female form and to flatter it, which is something that seems to be rare across the board in this year’s collections.
Elie is actually a man. A very sweet, unassuming, short man that you would never think was a fashion designer if you saw him on the street.
But yes, I agree, he’s my favorite. He wants to make women look beautiful- all women, not just models, and you can see that in his clothes. If I were a lady who lunches and goes to red carpet things, I would wear nothing but Elie Saab all the time.
I swear some of the models are pushing the limits of how thin you can be without actually being dead.
The first photo, look at the model’s upper arms, in what kind of world is that supposed to be a good look? She looks like a concentration camp survivor and I am not saying that to make fun of her but because I just can’t believe people think it’s okay to make someone starve themselves to that degree for the sake of fashion.
i love the dress in #3 — what an awesome neckline — but i can’t help but think she’s flashing her pubes at me.
The models look consumptive and I am SO SO SO over the sheer look.
The opaque dresses are fantastic. I especially love the one you dubbed “an interesting breast frame” – it’s also a really FLATTERING breast frame. Love these.
I would wear that one. If it were cut lower, you’d only be seeing boobs, but as it is, I think it’s just really pretty and interesting. I have some antique pearls that would be perfect with the color and should finish the framework nicely, drawing the eye up a bit.
I remember watching the movie Aliens and seeing the suit collars and thinking, er … ok. That’s how professional ppls are gonna dress in the future timeys? I look at these runways and a lot of it just feels like sci-fi or fantasy wardrobes for films.
Oh great, now we have zombie runway models? I thought the zombie fad was too bourgeois for Paris.
Loved most of the dresses though.
Anyone else getting a page of crazy characters when trying to click through the slideshow? Must see pretty dresses.
Love Elie Saab. The blue shade in #3 is absolutely beautiful. Maybe make the skirt a solid color or a little less see thru and it would work. Put #9 in either the blue shade or the purple shade from this slideshoe and I’m sold.
I really liked the yellow one.
Enough with the sheer, already.
I loved most of these dresses, but THE SHOES! COVET!!!
Someone tell the designers that see-thru is SO OVER. And SO BORING.
Clicking through this, I saw a couple things that immediately made me think “I can see this one Princess Kate” I’m glad that she’s influencing fashion, I love her style.
I would like one of each, thank you. I would line them and I thought some of the shoes were heavy, but what a beautiful collection of flattering, pretty dresses that are meant to be worn on a female human body. Like a breath of fresh air!
