You know, conventional wisdom says that when you’re not nominated, or if you’re the plus-one of someone who is, you shouldn’t dress for maximum attention because it’s not your night. Know what I say to that? SCREW IT. (There was no controversy about this last night, by the way, or at least none that I heard; I was just mulling it on my own, and decided that my slow souring on that point of view is correct.) Wear whatever the hell you want, ladies and gents, because everyone deserves to be and feel celebrated. If anyone’s threatened by your light, they are welcome to turn up their own.
