Met Ball Fug Carpet: More Olde-Tymey Melodrama

If Linda Evangelista looked like the cover of a book about Lady Jane Grey, fictionalizing that she lived and was whisked away to grow up in hiding in Scotland, or something, so she could come back and claim the throne from a position of strength, then several other people are apparently supporting players in that story. Was there a memo?

Looks like the costume department from Game of Thrones has bled over into the mainstream. With hi-larious results.

If they recap Katie Holmes soon, my immediate reaction to her dress was “That’s the servant girl/prostitute dress in white!”

You all are so wonderfully funny- spot on, too. But I love the vintage orange dress, MOrgan Le Fey or not… This batch of boggarts knew what they were about.

…wait. The Olsen twins are NOT joined at the hip?! When did this happen?!

Who does Zachary Quinto think he is? Alan Cumming?

Dammit – now I wish Wintour would declare next year’s theme to be GoT. However she should add a postscript to the invitations: There will be beheadings for thematic fails!

This year’s theme basically was GoT – Florence dressed up as an actual Crow.

The Olsens made an honest mistake – I ALWAYS confuse “gypsy boudoir” with “punk.”

Damn, MK is looking rough. Hope she’s okay.

I love Katy’s look. It makes no sense, it doesnt fit the theme but I love it. I want the crown to wear every day.

Her makeup and outfits age her a lot. I would have to guess she was in her 40s or 50s. I’d love to see her in something fresher!

I thought I was alone in thinking that! The vintage makeup makes it look as if SHE is vintage. Actually, I think this is one of the better ones – maybe she needs to dump her current repertoire and just go medieval with it. She’ll look so fresh in comparison.

I kind of dig Katy Perry’s outfit. It’s fun.

Same here — I’d totally wear that dress (and crown, if only around the house).

I’m intrigued by this medieval-ly offshoot. If it were Victorian, I’d figure they were going for steam punk, but medieval? I don’t get it.

Say what you will about the Olsens’ style (and there’s plenty to say), at least they don’t go out flaunting their private parts.

I am incapable of seeing the Olsens now without hearing Zooey Deschanel’s phenomenal SNL version of them (well, of one of them, but same thing). I highly recommend it to all: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/digital-shorts/video/bein-quirky-with-zooey-deschanel/1384660/

Damned Heather…that was some funky funny crazy trip you just took me on [that's how my uncle, who grew up in the '60s would have said it].

P.S. I love, love, love all that shiny embroidery on Katy Perry’s dress. It’s gorgeous close up.

That last slide commentary makes me think of the Black Dagger Brotherhood which is a very popular and very awful (from my perspective) vampire book series. They literally have main characters named Rhage, Phury and Zsadist. Seriously.

I love byzantine art, so I am really loving Katy’s dress…except for the hem and cut of the skirt. I feel like it makes her hips look wider than they are and has a lot of heaviness to it. I might love it a whole lot of it was framed and not worn, though!

I totally agree! Pretty great dress but totally the wrong length for her. She looks great in gold w/ that dark hair and lip. Really too bad that the dress is making her look frumpy.

Byzantine? I thought she was dressed as a Russian Icon.

Or maybe Greek. Well, she’s dressed as an Orthodox Christian icon, which gives the outfit Byzantine ancestry. Dang, I think I’m giving her a “Best Dressed” award, just for the history lesson.

But you know, I have to say this or I would have no integrity:

I am a vegan, and I don’t think you should toss around quips pertaining to tricking us into accepting disguised meat from an Olsen twin. We get “meated” about half the time at Taco Bell as it is.

      That shizz is wrong.

I thought it was funny! Very funny, in fact. I was just mocking how people take offense at things. Although, I do realize that some vegans are humorless, I just…(sigh).

I love the fanfic you girls write (in addition to the actual fiction you write). I love what Katy is wearing, even though I don’t think it’s anywhere close to punk (but then again, I’m so the wrong person to ask about punk anyway). I also kind of love Quinto here. Is that wrong?

OK, this made me laugh so hard I got an asthma attack. Hee hee, “normal names with extra letters in them.” That is SO GoT.

MK, however, is not, Cersei drag notwithstanding.

Man, you guys are wasted on this fashion commentary stuff (that I’ve been reading religiously forever DON’T EVER STOP). You should possibly have your own MAD Magazine.
