Martha Marcy Fug Marlene

Louisa Krause here has three movies coming out this year, and was in Martha Marcy May Marlene with Elizabeth Olsen:

And you KNOW that if she hits it big as an actor, four years from now she will be confronted with this photo in the course of a big glossy story in Allure or whatever and she is going to have to sigh and be like, “yeah. I know. I don’t know what was happening there. I just…don’t know.”

It’s possible she’s saying that NOW, actually.

It looks like she thought she was going to a cocktail party at Medieval Times.

This is RenFaire meets balloon skirts of 1987.

It looks like some kind of homemade Disney costume gone horribly wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. Princess Aurora on Ice, made in a beginner’s sewing class.

But Aurora wears pink! The one that wears purple is Rapunzel! I have a 9 y/o niece, don’t judge! ;)

I mean living-as-Briar-Rose Aurora. :) And of course I don’t judge; got nieces myself, so I know how it goes.

Is that a dress or two crazy pieces put together?
That wouldn’t even survive Project Runway – Tim Gunn would have dropped by during the development phase and expressed enough concern to the designer that he/she would be shamed into starting over.

If it wasn’t for the silly ribbon I would kind of love this in a crazy way. The black bits remind me of the spires of a cathedral, that must count for something!

I’m thinking she is going open those doors so we can see all the Nee-ple.

Who did this to you kiddo?

    …is she a long-lost Peldon?

I don’t say that to impugn her acting skills. I say that because I’m 95% sure Courtney Peldon wore this in her Cinderella run (some might say reign of terror – she TOOK OUT LILO, PEOPLE) in the very first Fug Madness.

Yes, I am aware that my memory for Fug Madness history borders on the terrifying.

I don’t know why, but she looks so charming that she could probably pull that top off with black tuxedo pants! The skirt… Not so much! If it is a dress, it would have to go on the costume pile! I like the shoes, the hair & the nailpolish!

I agree. The top would be awesome with tuxedo pants and great heels, as long as she left off that random ribbon. That ribbon actually just looks like she pulled it from her craft box.

It’s really nice that she finished off this “outfit” with a nice piece of twine tied around her waste. It’s really great. Thanks Louisa.

I’m pretty sure one of my Barbies circa 1989 had this outfit.

I think so too. Bloomer shorts!
Maybe this is some kind costume, like some obscure anime character?

It just looks so uncomfortably polyester, I feel itchy at just the thought of feeling the fabric.

This HAS to be an Aurora-in-the-woods Disney costume. Seriously.

This could be a candidate for worst dress of the decade.

    She’s saying that now, probably.

Bubble hems flatter no woman over the age of seven. Just sayin’. And this dress looks handmade – in “home ec” (what is now called “family studies”, for you young uns’).

Did the Martha Marcy May Marlene cult brainwash her into wearing that get-up?
