Laura Dern looks so good in things that it’s hard to get mad when it’s not erupting with aptness. But what I initially wrote off as a simple blue sheath got better when I spied the polka dots flowing from behind:
And then it got mildly worse again when I found out they were removable — making this, essentially, a very cute tablecloth that she tucked into her waistband, and could yank free like a magician revealing a trick. I think she looks marvelous in it, and O TO BE AWESOME IN ALL THINGS as she is, but: Until the theme is Do It Yourself, this one maybe should’ve stayed on the rack.
