I love the flying earrings in that last shot! (And her pretty pretty red hair.)

Finally! We knew you could do it, JM. Well played, indeed.

Am I alone in thinking that this dress makes her look boxy and square in a way that I’m 99% sure she isn’t? You can’t argue with the face and hair though.

You are not alone. While she looked far better than usual, I totally would have reversed the colors. I think a black strip across the midriff would have brought the waist in more and eliminated the boxiness, not to mention black is far more flattering to the backside than white.

Yes! I was waiting for y’all to cover this. When I saw the picture I thought “At last–she didn’t drown the pretty!” This is fab.

OMG. She looks so good – best in show so far.

I like this in the pictures, but thought it was pretty unflattering when she was actually onstage.

I thought the same thing– for once Ford did right by JM. One quibble: the string across the back looks afterthoughty. A bold strap acoss the back shoulder would work the whole geometric angle & show some design conviction, IMHO.

It looks like a boot-lace. Details, Mr. Ford, details.

Agreed on the tie – the rest of it’s so clean, and I find that tie to be a bit…tacky. Gwyneth would not suffer a back shoelace.

I agree about the shoelace. I loved this dress but gasped when they showed her from the back onstage. Overall though – classic, elegant, 60′s mod – LOVE.

I love the dress from the front and the back… except for the tie string. The rest of the dress is so structural, that I’m inclined to say you want doublesided tape to hold the shoulders in place and give a great view of the open back, but if you absolutely must have fabric, go for a simple and bold strip of fabric to match the lines of the rest of it. That tie thingy is to floppy and bikini-esque to cash the structural checks that the rest of the dress is writing.

I like everything but the tie in the back (and overall I think the front is so much prettier than the back). But kudos to her. She looks wonderful.

Stunning, she’s probably my best dressed of the night. This is perfection!

YAY!!! I am so IN LOVE with this whole look! I love Julianne and this outfit is an ABSOLUTE WIN! She looks stunning in this dress and I love black & white… One of my favorites of the night! Hair, makeup & accessories are GREAT! BRAVO! FAB!

I love a black and white gown and this did not disappoint, although if I had that gorgeous red hair of hers….. (it’s never looked better BTW, I ADORE this particular up-do on her. elegant simplicity..but I digress)…… I would turn up in emerald green or an amethyst purple that so flatters red-heads. And that’s the second comment I’ve made about redheads today which is kind’ve a first for me. That’s the love I have for GFY I guess.

One of the top five looks of last night, for sure.

Fittingly enough, I’m split on this – love the front, strongly dislike the back.

Great earrings, and she’s working that marvelously classic hair in a way few faces could.

i love her, and she can do no wrong, but i wore a dress with the exact same top in a wedding in 1993. i had no idea it was so stylish. :\

I love this except for the shoelace….. she looks SO elegant and lovely. I wish I could see her shoes they look like 5″ stilettos!

Love the front, hate the back. I wish the back was fully enclosed without the silly shoelace.

I guess I am pretty much alone in thinking that this dress aged her. I usually think she looks amazing, much younger than her age, but this dress seemed old-ladyish to me. I love black and white, so I don’t know why I didn’t like it. :(

I totally agree! Exactly what I was thinking.

Unless Juliette is in her 60′s, this makes her look flat-out elderly. Certainly the most beautiful sexagenarian in the room, but still, eligible for a discount at Rexall.

LOVE. Ms. Moore can pretty much do no wrong in my eyes.

It wasn’t very flattering from the back. She needed some Spanx (which most women would, too, in a dress like that!). But overall she looked good.

The tie string is a mess and with the back looking like a collapsed hood I’d love to see it on La Lopez but it’s still cute on her.

OK… I know this says a lot about me….. but there were a lot of shots of her from the back when she was televised…. I don’t think she was wearing Spanx!….and seriously, the woman should advertise that!

Wow… semi-lone voice of dissension here. I love her… she is so, so pretty and her skin and her hair, my God that HAIR. And I just want more (Moore?) for her. I feel like this is one of those outfits that people may love simply because her recent outfits have been off the wall cray cray, and this is relatively tame. But I want a color. I want a little drama. I want my redhead in an emerald, damn it.

I think she looks amazing. Love the dress, love the hair, but for me the makeup feels a little…I don’t know, over-structured? Maybe just on the verge of faintly considering giving some thought to being…drag-queen adjacent?…ish?

Whatever (tiny) qualms I may have about this dress, I am sooo happy to see red carpet looks with sleeves I may have to write an award winning screenplay, so I too can dress up. Strapless is done to death, yet hardly ever fits right. It is a pleasure to see dresses with a little substance. Now, if only the sheer plague would burn itself out, gofug could take a brief vacation.

Julianne almost never looks her best in evening wear. Although this is not my perfect dress for her, it’s so much better than what she usually wears, I could cry.

She looked so great in Savage Grace. Anyone see that? She should grab her stylist from that film, and never let him or her go.

Yay! Finally! I love her so much (as my name would suggest), so it’s so wonderful to see her looking good. :)

I literally asked if she was pregnant when I saw her onstage. This dress did not move well AT ALL. In the stills, though, she looks the best she’s ever looked.

“In a country where job listings routinely include height requirements and ask for photos, it’s no surprise that there is widespread belief that better looks will help a woman get ahead.
